The PhD project will focus on determining the role of a novel toxin-antitoxin-associated transcription factor in the DNA damage response of the model organism Caulobacter crescentus and how its activity modulates antibiotic sensitivity or resistance.

PhD position summary/title: in Decadal Climate Variability and Predictability
Aim of the project is to use high-resolution predictive models to resolve decadal climate variability as well as mesoscale processes in both the ocean and the atmosphere, with a focus on the Arctic. A major focus will be on water mass dynamics and feedbacks on the ocean’s carbon pump with the long-term goal to assess the impact of decadal variations on the ocean carbon sink.

Selection of the optimal treatment strategy within Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) can be complex and difficult. IBD markedly affects the life quality of the patients and their families, and represents a significant burden on society due to, amongst others, lost educational opportunities, absenteeism, and health care expenses. The disease phenotype varies enormously between patients. Hence, there is a need for reliable biological markers with diagnostic and prognostic value, with vast potential to improve disease management and select the most appropriate drug at a specific time point.
