PhD position summary/title: PHD POSITION IN ECONOMICS, BUSINESS, AND MANAGEMENT
Among other things, the PhD project should analyse, quantitatively, if a legislative change in 2013, requiring Danish companies to outline target figures on gender balance in top management(typically board of directors), has had a positive effect on the share of women in board of directors in Denmark. Furthermore, the project should analyse when and under what conditions a larger share of women on the board of directors is positively corelated with gender equality at different levels of the organization. The literature refers to this as”the Trickle-down effect”. The project should analyse if, when, by how much, and under what conditions the trickle-down effect impacts on various measures of gender equality such as the number of women in management positions, gender wage gaps, and promotion prospects and speed. Theses analyses should mainly draw on Danish register data. The PhD student is affiliated to the IKE research group, Aalborg University Business School, Denmark. The focus of the research group is on Innovation, Knowledge and Economic dynamics at different levels of aggregation: the firm level, the industry level, the macro level, and different geographic levels of aggregation. The PhD student is expected to contribute actively to the research and teaching activities of the IKE research group. In addition to writing scientific articles, the PhD student is expected to collaborate with Equalis in disseminating research results to a non-academic audience and engaging in relevant debates to increase societal impact.
