(01) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: Efficient Design of Metal Additive Manufactured Components for Scalable Power-to-Molecule-Reactors
The doctoral thesis develops approaches for scalable designs of additive manufactured (3D printed) parts for power-to-molecule-reactors. Metal additive manufacturing enables new designs for miniaturized, modular process plants for pharmaceutical products or to convert ubiquitous substances and renewable energy into chemical energy carriers.
Deadline of PhD Position: 15 July 2021
(02) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: “Effects of ionizing radiation on the corrosion of ferritic steels in the presence and absence of inhibitors”
The water jet abrasive suspension cutting technique (WASS, “Wasser-Abrasiv-Suspensions-Schneidverfahren”) is applied in the dismantling of nuclear power plants. This technique produces radioactive grain mixtures of abrasive and steel in water suspensions as secondary waste.
Deadline of PhD Position: 30.06.2021
(03) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: “Metallic corrosion at the steel/bentonite interface under anoxic and water saturated conditions”
The goal of the PhD Thesis is to conduct corrosion experiments on metallic coupons in contact with clay minerals under anoxic and water saturated conditions. Experiments will be designed and conducted using candidate canister materials, which are of potential interest in nuclear waste disposal.
Deadline of PhD Position: 25.06.2021
(04) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD Program summary/title: PhD student with a background in physics, chemistry, meteorology or geophysics
n the frame of the project INCREASE funded by the German Research Foundation DFG, you will investigate the impact of stellar activity of different star types onto the evolution and composition of exoplanetary atmospheres. For this, you will further develop the planetary atmosphere model ExoTIC, carry out model studies for different star types and planetary atmospheres, and analyse them
Deadline : 24.06.2021
(05) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD Program summary/title: Development of a high-speed DAQ system for the Micro Vertex Detector of PANDA
This PhD thesis will focus on design and development of the data acquisition system (DAQ) for the MVD detector. It needs to readout data continuously, since no first-level hardware trigger will be available, and it needs to be flexible to cope with anisotropic occupancy and different target types.
Deadline : 31 July 2021
About Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany –Official Website
The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology is a public research university and one of the largest research and educational institutions in Germany. KIT was created in 2009 when the University of Karlsruhe (Universität Karlsruhe), founded in 1825 as a public research university and also known as the “Fridericiana”, merged with the Karlsruhe Research Center , which had originally been established in 1956 as a national nuclear research center
KIT is a member of the TU9, an incorporated society of the largest and most notable German institutes of technology. As part of the German Universities Excellence Initiative KIT was one of three universities which were awarded excellence status in 2006 In the following “German Excellence Strategy” KIT was awarded as one of eleven “Excellence Universities” in 2019. KIT is among the leading technical universities in Germany and Europe and established the first German faculty for computer science in 1972.
As of 2018, six Nobel laureates are affiliated with KIT. The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology is well known for many inventors and entrepreneurs who studied or taught there, including Heinrich Hertz, Karl Friedrich Benz and the founders of SAP SE.
