PhD position summary/title: PhD Position in Experimental Physics
The selected candidate will work within the research project ‘Relativistic nanophotonics’. The unique combination of sub-two optical cycle laser pulse duration (<5 fs) and ultra-high intensities (>10^18 W/cm^2) – more details can be found here D. E. Rivas et al., Sci. Rep. 7, 5224 (2017) – opens the way towards field-controlled relativistic interactions. When nanometer-sized solid targets are used, the so-called relativistic nanophotonics regime – D. E. Cardenas et al., Sci. Rep. 9, 7321 (2019) –, these interactions involve the acceleration of electrons with highest fields beyond TV/m strength and shortest duration below 1 fs.

PhD position summary/title: PhD in Comparative Political Sociology of Climate Policymaking
This PhD project will be carried out as part of the larger research project “In Search of Decoupling.” The candidate will conduct case studies with the purpose of understanding how some societies have succeeded in mitigating some environmental problems, including climate change to varying extents. Under what conditions have these successes, including key policy decisions that contributed to them, been possible? And to what degree have these achievements and policy choices reflected public opinion, come at an economic cost, and/or influenced levels and types of employment?

(03) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: PhD in Computational Science with specialization in Mathematical Statistics
Better planning of surgeries and subsequent postoperative care can make healthcare more efficient. A planning tool assumes that the patient’s length of stay can be predicted using available data, including pre-surgical data, surgical data, postoperative data, and various registry data types. As a PhD student, you will work within an interdisciplinary research group. The goal is to develop machine learning techniques that can be used to estimate the patient’s length of stay and identify risk factors that contribute to extended stays. Knowledge of risk factors is expected to contribute to an increased understanding of how healthcare can be more efficient.

PhD position summary/title: PhD Position in Experimental Physics
We are looking for a PhD candidate interested in developing nanostructured metal oxides capable of withstanding highly acidic environments. The study of acid-stable metal oxides is important for the development of protective coatings, and electrocatalysts, where aggressive environments with low pH, corrosive substances, or anodic conditions are often present. Therefore, this PhD project involves fields such as material science, electrochemistry, and computational chemistry. The overall aim is to identify factors that contribute to an early metal dissolution under acidic and anodic conditions.

PhD position summary/title: 1-2 PhD students in Computing Science with focus on cloud native computing systems
The research, led by Professor Erik Elmroth, focuses on autonomous systems for managing resources and applications in environments based on cloud native technology (and possibly serverless technology), i.e., the software landscape built around Kubernetes run by CNCF. The specific research problem can to a large extent be adapted to the candidate’s background and interest, with the ambition of creating new knowledge about the design of autonomous management systems for future software systems designed specifically for execution in clouds. General objectives for autonomous management systems are typically to achieve high reliability, availability, performance, and efficiency with moderate manual effort.

PhD position summary/title: PhD student in mathematical statistics within the WASP AI programme
This project aims to develop new methods and new theories within geometric deep learning. This can, for instance, consist of the design of new network architectures, analysis of universality properties, explorations of a new class of transformations, and applications to simulated and real data. The PhD candidate is also expected to cooperate with our other ongoing AI-related projects.
