(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow (x2)
Two post-doctoral positions funded by the Wellcome Trust are available in the laboratory of Leon Lagnado to study the plasticity of visual processing in zebrafish. Fluorescent reporters of neural activity will be used in conjunction with advanced imaging methods and behavioural assays to investigate how the retinal output is generated and the subsequent processing of this output in other visual centres. The general aim of the project is to understand the circuit mechanisms that adjust visual processing is adjusted in response to information from other senses (especially smell) and/or changes in internal state (especially circadian control).

The Science Policy Research Unit at the University of Sussex Business School, is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work on an EU funded Horizon2020 project on Pathways to Inclusive Labour markets (PILLARS). The PILLARS project studies how changes in emerging automation technologies, their adoption along GVCs, and industrial transformations, affect the future of work, including through the reconfiguration of the demand for skills.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow in Immunology
A three-year fixed term appointment for a Postdoctoral Fellow is available in the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
The post holder will be responsible to the Chair in Immunology, Professor Florian Kern.
The work will cover two main project areas with large technological overlap, one exploring the effect of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection on the vascular system and immunological ageing, the second related to basic T-cell target protein discovery and epitope mapping.

The University of Sussex is a public research university located in Falmer, East Sussex, England, it is mostly within the city boundaries of Brighton and Hove but spills into the Lewes District in its eastern fringe. Its large campus site is surrounded by the South Downs National Park and is around 5.5 kilometres (3.4 mi) from central Brighton. The University received its Royal Charter in August 1961, the first of the plate glass university generation, and was a founding member of the 1994 Group of research-intensive universities.
More than a third of its students are enrolled in postgraduate programmes and approximately a third of staff are from outside the United Kingdom. Sussex has a diverse community of nearly 20,000 students, with around one in three being foreign students, and over 1,000 academics, representing over 140 different nationalities.
