06 Postdoctoral Position at EMPA, Swiss Federal Laboratories,
Switzerland
Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology invites online Application for various Postdoctoral Positions. Eligible candidate may Apply as soon as possible.
(01) Postdoctoral Position
Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc or Scientist in decentralized energy systems.
You will work in research and development projects in the fields of decentralized energy systems for buildings, quarters and cities. You will design and evaluate system concepts by modelling and simulation and develop respective design and evaluation approaches and tools. You will execute your research ideas in various projects, in close collaboration with our team and our external scientific and industry partners. You will support our PhD and postdoctoral students and publish in scientific journals and conferences
Deadline of Postdoc Position: Open Until Filled
(02) Postdoctoral Position
Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc position in the field of printed photopolymers (photoresins).
Within a collaborative project DiPrintProtect funded by the Strategic Focus Area (SFA) Advanced Manufacturing https://www.sfa-am.ch/, we would like to push the limits of precision printing of protecting polymers coatings. The results of the project will find direct use within the watch manufacturing cycle by replacing the manual application step of protective coatings with a digital printing/coating process. We will pursue three main objectives that reflect industry needs:
- develop a printable resin/varnish/film to ensure the desired protective function
- identify a digital printing technology with the requested spatial definition down to 10 µm
- ensure traceless removal of the protection, either by dissolution or preferably by peeling off/delamination
Deadline of Postdoc Position: Open Until Filled
(03) Postdoctoral Position
Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc position in Tensor Tomography / Scientific Computing.
This interdisciplinary project will be embedded in the newly formed group “Hierarchical Systems” in the Center for X-ray Analytics at Empa and the work will be performed in collaboration with other team-members. The research group focus on the development of advanced X-ray imaging and scattering techniques and their application towards materials with hierarchical structures in soft-matter and biomedical applications. The postdoctoral position includes independent research tasks and can also involve co-supervision of graduate and master students.
Deadline of Postdoc Position: Open Until Filled
(04) Postdoctoral Position
Postdoctoral position summary/title: PostDoc Position in the field of ceramic cobalt free LiNiMnO cathode materials.
For this research project, we are looking for a highly motivated PostDoc with a strong background in ceramic processing and characterization of porous and dense materials for energy related applications.
Deadline of Postdoc Position: Open Until Filled
(05) Postdoctoral Position
Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc position on electrochemical CO2 reduction.
he research project focuses on the development of catalysts and electrodes for electrochemical CO2 reduction. Your task is to tailor catalyst activity and selectivity by tuning microstructural and chemical features and understand their influence on local reagent/product concentration benefitting from the extensive materials characterization capabilities available at Empa.
Deadline of Postdoc Position: Open Until Filled
(06) Postdoctoral Position
Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc position on cathode/electrolyte interface in lithium-ion batteries.
The research project focuses on developing an understanding of phenomena at the interface between layered transition metal oxide cathode materials and liquid electrolytes at high voltages. Your tasks include liquid electrolyte formulation, cell assembly and characterization with a special focus on the cathode/electrolyte interface. Our labs are fully equipped for battery fabrication and testing. State-of-the-art facilities include synthesis labs with fume hoods, numerous gloveboxes, various synthesis reactors and furnaces, sputtering, evaporation, and atomic layer deposition facilities, X-ray diffractometers, Raman and FTIR spectrometers, electrochemical characterization including impedance spectroscopy, mass spectrometers, gas chromatographers, thermogravimetric analyzer, various equipment for the characterization of electrolytes, etc. Access to advanced electron microscopy and X-ray facilities is also available.
Deadline of Postdoc Position: Open Until Filled
About Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology
The Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa, German acronym for Eidgenössische Materialprüfungs- und Forschungsanstalt) is an interdisciplinary Swiss research institute for applied materials sciences and technology. As part of the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology Domain, it is an institution of the Swiss federation. For most of the period since its foundation in 1880, it concentrated on classical materials testing. Since the late 1980s it has developed into a modern research and development institute.
