The Amsterdam School for Heritage, Memory and Material Culture currently has a vacant PhD position in the area of innovating cross media research on public debates. This Research School is one of the five within the Amsterdam Institute for Humanities Research.
Deadline : 8 November 2021
(02) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: PhD Position in Dynamics of Cooperation and Fairness in Artificial Systems
The goal of this project is to combine methods from CAS (e.g., dynamical systems, stochastic processes, complex networks analysis) and AI (e.g., multi-agent learning, game theory, machine learning) to understand cooperation in multi-agent domains (from distributed AI to online planforms). We intend to formalize models to infer the evolution of behaviours in populations facing collective action dilemmas — that is, situations where benefits are only attained when a minimal level of cooperation is achieved. How can algorithmic recommendations and artificial agents contribute to sustain long-term cooperation in such settings?

PhD position summary/title: PhD Position Computational Electrochemistry of CO2 Conversion
We are seeking a PhD candidate who is interested to unravel this electrochemical conversion process using advanced quantum mechanical (DFT) based simulations methods, incorporating the thermal and solvent effects by molecular dynamics techniques. Elucidating the reaction mechanisms and quantifying the role of the electrode material and electrolyte will provide a quantitative theoretical basis that connects with experimental studies within the consortium. The combined experimental/theoretical insights should guide to novel design principles for the development of future efficient and clean electrochemical CO2 conversion processes.
Deadline : 8 November 2021
(06) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: Phd Position in Biocatalysis
A PhD position is available for four years for a project in the area of biocatalysis, bio-organic chemistry and biotechnology. The project deals with the asymmetric synthesis of chiral amines and amino alcohols starting from renewable building blocks or waste, and through cascade reactions. The position is immediately available and work can start as soon as possible.
