Eligible candidate may Apply as soon as possible.
(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Theoretical Physics
The candidate will work on problems at the intersection of mathematical statistics, machine learning, and generative modeling, particularly for sequential data arising in complex dynamical systems. The candidate is expected to carry out research and publish their findings in top conferences and journals, and help in the management of the group, as well as supervision of students on research projects. The position is meant to further the careers of early-career researchers who wish to pursue a career in academia. The job description may be changed during the contract period or upon contract renewal.
Deadline : 31.Oct.2025
(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in The Astrophysics of the First Galaxies
The project focus is on observational or numerical/computational studies of the universe during the Reionization era. We seek to hire postdoctoral fellows within the newly established KAW research program of high scientific impact at the astronomy department of Stockholm University and Oskar Klein Centre, which has Reionization as its theme. The selected candidates will research physical properties of galaxies and star formation and their contribution to Reionization from observational and numerical perspectives.
Deadline : 19.Oct.2025

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Fungal Evolutionary Biology
The Johannesson lab at DEEP makes use of the unique lifestyles of fungi to explore evolutionary questions about individuality and genetic inheritance. The group is now looking for a motivated postdoc in evolutionary biology of fungi. The postdoc position is part of an ERC-funded project, which aims to investigate the phenomenon of early germline sequestration in (mushroom-forming) fungi. Until recently the prevailing assumption was that early germline sequestration was a trait almost uniquely found in unitary animals. This trait prevents the inheritance of somatic mutations accumulated during growth to be passed on to the next generation. Unexpectedly, the research group recently identified a pattern of early germline sequestration in the basidiomycete fungus Marasmius oreades, suggesting convergence in evolution of this key trait among major eukaryote lineages.
The postdoc project will focus on the evolutionary causes and consequences of a germline sequestration in fungi, and the mechanisms determining their separation. The project will either have a strong emphasis on theory, molecular biology techniques and microscopy, and/or on bioinformatic and evolutionary analyses.
Deadline : 01.Oct.2025
(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Evolutionary Genomics
The Department of Ecology, Environment and Plant Sciences invites applications for postdoktoral fellow for the project “Harnessing evolutionary transitions, machine learning, and genomics to decode pollen evolution and unravel sexual selection mechanisms shared across kingdoms”. The project is led by Prof. Tanja Slotte in close collaboration with co-investigators Prof. John Fitzpatrick, Prof. Catarina Rydin, and Dr. Allison Hsiang at Stockholm University.
This project will investigate the evolutionary drivers and genomic consequences of pollen evolution in response to shifts in pollination mode in flowering plants. The postdoctoral fellow will focus on identifying genomic signatures of selection on pollen in relation to evolutionary transitions in pollination mode. The work will involve comparative genomic analyses in a phylogenetic framework, as well as population genomic and transcriptomic analyses in suitable plant systems. The project is funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.
Deadline : 24.Sep.2025
(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Electrochemistry
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research at the forefront of sustainable chemistry. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our teams to work on electrochemically-driven CO₂ capture and its subsequent utilization for organic transformations. This project aims to develop novel electrochemical methods for efficiently capturing atmospheric CO₂ and converting it into valuable organic building blocks, through the development of new catalytic materials, contributing to a circular carbon economy.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Microtine Palaeogenomics
The Department of Zoology invites applications for a postdoc position (for two years) based within Prof. Love Dalén’s research group at the Centre for Palaeogenetics (CPG) in Stockholm. The position is funded by a grant from the European Research Council (ERC AdG PrimiGenomes). The postdoctoral project will be aimed at using palaeogenomics to examine the Pleistocene evolution of voles and lemmings (microtine rodents). This is an ambitious project that will include extraction, sequencing and computational analysis of ancient DNA from prehistoric specimens that are up to 2.6 million years old (i.e. twice the age as the oldest palaeogenomes recovered to date. A large number of samples are already available in the collections at CPG, but there are also possibilities for additional fieldwork. Some of the topics that will be addressed include investigating the tempo and mode of speciation, the degree of hybridization among lineages, as well as the timing, rate and extent of adaptive evolution and demographic change in response to past climatic changes.
Deadline : 22.Sep.2025
(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Quantum Gravity-Philosophy of Physics
The position is part of a Templeton-funded project on the emergence of spacetime in quantum gravity led by Prof. Richard Dawid (Philosophy, SU) and Asst. Prof. Guilherme Franzmann (Nordita).
The post-doc will work primarily on:
- comparative analyses of how space and time emerge in algebraic and entanglement-based frameworks ;
- observer-dependence, perspectivalism, and the prospects for scientific realism in quantum-gravity dualities and emergence of spacetime.
Both groups offer a lively research atmosphere that bridges physics and philosophy, with access to Nordita’s visitors’ programmes, SU’s Philosophy of Science community, and the broader Stockholm quantum-gravity network.
Deadline : 21.Sep.2025
