(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc assessing the hazards of nano and micro plastics for humans
As an experienced Postdoc you will work jointly at the Toxicology group of Wageningen University, Wageningen Food Safety Research and the GUMI lab of The Swammerdam Institute of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) within a Dutch research consortium on the human health risks of nano and microplastics. The research in the Toxicology group focusses on molecular-driven, mechanistic understanding of toxicological processes related to human health and their translation into risk assessment for human health. Currently micro and nanoplastics are found in the environment and the food we eat, but does this pose a human health risk? Clearly, there is a strong societal concern on the wide occurrence of micro and nano plastics. In this project you will study the potential effects of micro and nanoplastics on the human intestine (in vitro). For this you will use an organ on chip device that allows the dynamic anaerobic culturing of intestinal microorganisms on a cell layer of intestinal epithelial cells. You will use analytical chemistry based proteomics approaches to assess the biocorona formed on the particles and related that to potential adverse effects to intestinal cells. You will be involved in supervision of PhD and MSc thesis students who work in our research teams.
Deadline : Open Until Filled
(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc researcher: Governance of active and passive deep-sea restoration activities
REDRESS is an Horizon Europe project aiming to provide a key contribution to the EU commitments towards restoring degraded ecosystems, especially in the deep sea. REDRESS brings together a large inter- and multi-disciplinary consortium of 27 partners with skills in marine restoration ecology, marine biology, marine spatial planning, modelling, computer and data science, marine technologies, economy, governance, socio-economics and human sciences with special attention on knowledge transfer, dissemination and communication.
Deadline : 7 February 2024
(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc: Investigating the risk and transmission of antifungal resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus
Depending on the preference for your career path as a postdoctoral researcher, you will focus largely on either project management by co-leading the project involving several international research groups, or you will focus on the analysis of the whole genomic sequencing data, taking the population genomic analysis to the next level to understand the transmission antifungal resistant A. fumigatus.
Deadline : 12 February 2024
(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc Researcher – The mobilization of discontent framing: causes, content and consequences
The postdoctoral researcher is specifically responsible for conducting a large-scale multilingual content analysis. This position is available for 3 years and is part of the VICI project ‘The mobilization of discontent framing: causes, content and consequences ’ (PI prof. dr. Rens Vliegenthart) funded by the Dutch science foundation.
This project will focus on a large-scale cross-national content analysis of communication by politicians in a variety of arenas, including parliament, media and social media. More specifically, it investigates how politicians make use of populist framing, incivility and disinformation to cater to dissatisfaction that exists among citizens on issues such as climate change, immigration and vaccination.
Deadline : 14 February 2024
(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc Researcher – High-resolution simulations of urban plumes
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will contribute to the European project Carbon Atmospheric Tracer Research to Improve Numerical schemes and Evaluation (CATRINE). This project is focused on the evaluation and the improvement of atmospheric modeling systems used in atmospheric CO2 inversions. You will study the atmospheric dynamics of CO2 and reactive species like NO2 at high resolution (10-m to 300-m resolution) emitted from large metropolitan areas, from industrial sites, and from power plants to support the development of the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS).
Within CATRINE you will contribute to model intercomparisons. You will be responsible for Large Eddy Simulations of the well-instrumented cities Paris, Zurich, Munich, Rotterdam, and Indianapolis and will compare the simulations to the available surface and satellite observations. Next to CO2 simulations, you will simulate co-emitted compounds like carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, which are well-observed by satellite instruments.
Deadline : 4 March 2024
