We, the Physical Chemistry and Soft Matter Laboratory (PCC), have an open postdoctoral position available in the research domain of Atomic Force Microscopy. (04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc on flow-MRI and microfluidics at high-/ultra-high fields
The challenging scope of this post-doc position is the implementation of MRI hardware (microcoils, probeheads) and optimization of MRI pulse sequences for high-to-ultra-high field (600-1200 MHz) applications of microimaging to microfluidics, in collaboration with Radboud University. This position will cover both technical developments in the field of flow MRI and related application support, also across the consortium, with particular focus on troubleshooting and optimizing experimental conditions for NMR microimaging measurements at ultra-high magnetic fields. As post-doc, you will be embedded in the MAGNEFY facility and based at the Laboratory of Biophysics of WU. At the same time, you are expected to be in regular contact with, and work at, RU, as well as to cooperate with other post-docs deployed within the uNMR-NL consortium.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc on pre-clinical micro-MRI at high-/ultra-high fields
Our focus is on the implementation of microimaging methods in high-/ultra-high-field NMR spectrometers, with the ultimate goal to boost sensitivity, spatial and chemical resolution in pre-clinical MRI studies of small-volume soft biological materials or living systems, such as organelles.
We invite applications for a post-doctoral position of 1 year, with possible extension by 1 extra year, based at the Laboratory of Biophysics at Wageningen University (WU), and integrated within the Dutch National uNMR-NL consortium.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-doc in the governance for a circular built environment
The CREATE project, that stands for ‘embedding advanced urban material stock methods within governance processes to enable circular economy and cities resilience’ focuses on the built environment and infrastructure (the largest urban infrastructures and communal assets, namely buildings, municipal roads, water, and wastewater pipes). Within the project, this postdoc position will focus on testing and designing new governance solutions for facilitating and accelerating the transition to the circular economy within concrete renovation and building projects at the local level. Other work packages of the project will explore and visualize existing and future material stocks within urban buildings and infrastructure to facilitate the reuse of materials.

As post-doctoral researcher you develop AI approaches to predict near-future illegal deforestation based on forest change satellite data along with additional spatial datasets. Tropical forests are crucial in climate change mitigation, yet nearly half of tropical deforestation is illegal. This research aims to make reliable short-term predictions on the location, time, quantity and state of legality of deforestations.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in anaerobic microbial cultivation
Underground H2 storage is a potential solution to store energy, making use of currently empty (depleted) natural-gas/oil reservoirs. The risks of underground H2 storage include its conversion by microorganisms, depleting the energy carrier and also possibly contaminating the gas (e.g. by the activity of sulfate-reducing microbes that produce H2S, a highly corrosive gas). Your work will be studying microbial conversions of H2 under relevant environmental conditions for H2 underground storage (high pressure, high temperature). Tasks will include the development of microbial enrichments, their characterization in terms of microbial diversity and activities, kinetic studies, and evaluation of competitions between different metabolic groups of microorganisms (acetogens, methanogen, sulfate reducers).
