Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate – Environmental & Public Health (EPH)
The Department of Environmental & Public Health (EPH) has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Postdoctoral Fellow. The Postdoctoral Fellow will become an investigator on a National Institute on Aging-funded R01, Greenness, Cognitive Performance and Vascular Outcomes in the Northern Manhattan Study (NOMAS). The Fellow will be responsible for working on all aspects of the study including regulatory matters, liaise with the coordinating centers, data management and analyses, writing manuscripts for publication, and supporting and developing grant applications for the NIH. The Fellow will be supervised by Drs. Scott Brown and José Szapocznik who are highly experienced built environment/chronic disease investigators. Moreover, Dr. Brown has considerable expertise in age-related cognitive decline. The Postdoctoral Associate supports research activities at the University, under the supervision of a faculty member, in order to advance their knowledge and/or be documented by scientific publications. Works and collaborates on studies related to field of study. Ensures the design, development, execution and implementation of scientific research and/or development in collaboration with a research team. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions and products. The Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a full time Postdoctoral Associate. Dr. Viraj Sanghvi Lab pursues basic discovery and translational research in cancer biology. Specifically, the research focus in our lab falls in one of the following related areas:
1) understanding the pathological and clinical implications of non-enzymatic protein glycation in cancer (Sanghvi et al., 2019),
2) investigating the genetics and pathobiology of liver cancer, and
3) understanding and targeting aberrant redox signaling and metabolism in cancer. The overarching goal is to translate these research advancements into novel cancer therapies. To accomplish this, we leverage a variety of genetically engineered mouse models, functional genomics and proteomics approaches, genome editing technology, and innovative screening platforms.
