The PSP Group Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to this project through analysis of satellite remote sensing data aimed at constraining the paleolandscape on which these clay mineral-bearing stratigraphies formed. This will involve integrated analyses of spectroscopic (e.g., CRISM), image (e.g., CTX, HiRISE) and topographic (e.g., HiRISE stereo-derived DEMs) data. The available funding also provides room for the Postdoctoral Fellow to pursue other topics of interest in the broad field of planetary surface processes. The Oden Institute is an organized research unit that fosters interdisciplinary programs in computational sciences and engineering, computational medicine, computational geosciences, mathematical modeling, applied mathematics, data science, software engineering, and computational visualization. PhD must have been received within the past three years. The position is funded for a year with possibility of continuation based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding. The appointment can be renewed up to 4 times, but an overall duration of 2 or 3 years would normally be expected.

As a part of a large multi-disciplinary, integrated research project, the candidate will contribute to seismic and petrophysics-constrained quantitative reservoir characterization, prediction of faults, fractures, and quantitative rock properties to delineate reservoir(s) and determine reservoir storage capacity, and deliverability, with uncertainty estimates.

The Meyers Lab and UT Center for Pandemic Decision Science at The University of Texas at Austin are immediately seeking an outstanding postdoctoral scholar to help with the development of innovative pandemic simulation games to: (1) elucidate individual and group decision making dynamics during pathogen threat events and (2) support pandemic preparedness efforts, including the development of pandemic response plans and the training of governmental decision makers. The simulation games will integrate computational models of disease and behavioral dynamics and draw on scientific theories from the field of cognitive science and engineering regarding situational awareness and decision making.

This project will develop a framework, from core to regional scales, for modeling current and future greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The Institute for Geophysics at The University of Texas at Austin (UTIG) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to study methane hydrates in geological systems.  UTIG is one of the three research units of the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin. Scientists and students at UTIG conduct expeditionary research in Earth Science in all parts of the world, and are also involved in planetary missions and climate modeling. The Department of Religious Studies at the University of Texas at Austin seeks to appoint in Fall 2023 a two-year postdoctoral fellow affiliated with the Institute for the Study of Antiquity and Christian Origins (ISAC) in the field of Ancient Mediterranean Religions (AMR). The successful applicant will have the freedom to propose a specific research project, which could be an extension of their PhD research, and will also include collaboration with Dr. Kevin Clarno and other core faculty of the Oden Institute and in the Nuclear and Radiation Engineering program to develop new research opportunities associated with nuclear reactor multiphysics, digital twin, and uncertainty quantification methods development for HPC hardware through the use of VERA, MOOSE, and/or Shift. 

The laboratory of Dr. Kristen Harris invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow. We are seeking a candidate who has a demonstrated expertise in electrophysiology and a strong interest in cellular mechanisms of learning and memory. The position is located on the main campus of the University of Texas at Austin, where the laboratory is part of the Department of Neuroscience. The successful candidate will design and lead projects to elucidate functional and ultrastructural characteristics of developing synapses that are necessary for long-term synaptic plasticity, as a cellular model of learning and memory. We are especially interested in applicants who are eager to expand their horizon and learn serial section electron microscopy from our in-house experts and collaborators. This position will also serve as a point person to provide technical support and training in the laboratory regarding synaptic physiology and ultrastructure.
