PhD position summary/title: PHD IN POWER ELECTRONICS CONVERTER (PEC) FOR ELECTROLYZER WITH HIGH CURRENT AND LOW VOLTAGE
The specific PEC concept topology chosen from the concept design and evaluation phase in WP3 will be realized through the buildup of a large-scale PEC demonstrator in WP4. The hardware prototype of the PEC and relevant subsystems will be designed and built at AAU during the second year of the project in WP4. Part of the PEC subsystem that is commercially available may be outsourced(i.e. thyristor stacks, power modules, gate drivers, magnetics) to reduce the time for prototyping. The controller developed at IIT-M for a small-scale demonstrator in WP3 will be integrated with the large-scale prototype. The preliminary test and hardware validation of the PEC with control implemented will be carried out in power electronics laboratory at AAU.

PhD position summary/title: PHD STIPEND IN THE CONSEQUENCES OF IT SOFTWARE UPDATES ON HEALTHCARE WORK
Electronic health records(EHR) are a substantial foundation of the healthcare system and work as important entry points for producing and sharing healthcare data across diverse professional groups and stakeholders with different interests. As a piece of software, EHR systems are continuously updated to meet the needs of healthcare professionals. These updates may seem small, yet they are supposed to matter and solve problems ongoingly. While providing software improving updates is a significant part of IT professionals work, we know little about how these continuous updates affect the work practices of healthcare professionals.

PhD position summary/title: PHD STIPEND IN NEW NON-INVASIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR TERRESTRIAL SPECIES MONITORING
A PhD stipend is available in new non-invasive technologies for species monitoring. The background for the project is the growing need for large-scale monitoring of(terrestrial) animal species, that are under increasing stress and threatened by habitat destruction, urbanisation and climate change. As a result, traditional monitoring techniques need to be supplemented with new non-invasive approaches that can be used at a large scale to facilitate effective management and conservation practices. The project aims to explore different novel monitoring technologies such as thermal imaging and acoustics, as well as molecular tools, to survey ecological parameters including population size and distribution, diet, and health. These investigations will be performed with focus on important Danish animals species including European Hare(Lepus europaeus) and Hazel Dormouse(Muscardinus avellanarius), and more. The position includes both field work, laboratory and data analysis work.

PhD position summary/title: PHD STIPEND IN DEVELOPMENT OF AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-BASED METHODOLOGY FOR HEMOGLOBINOPATHY SCREENING
Hemoglobinopathies, or structural variations in hemoglobin, and thalassemia syndromes are the most common genetic illnesses in the world. A variety of number discrimination formulae(index) based on red blood cell(RBC) parameters have been developed throughout the years to aid in the early identification of individuals. However, because of the existence of several variances and variations in RBC measurements for individuals from various geographical locations and age groups, those are unlikely to be adequate to meet the need for early screening sensitivity and specificity. The project will have a substantial influence on the early-stage categorization of individuals in order to prevent disease transmission and death.

PhD position summary/title: ONE OR MORE PHD STIPENDS/INTEGRATED STIPENDS IN SELF-SUPERVISED LEARNING FOR DECODING OF COMPLEX SIGNALS
The typical situation is that unlabelled data is abundant, and this has given rise to paradigms such as semi-supervised and self-supervised learning(SSL). Both directions in SSL are based on combining large amounts of unlabelled data with limited labelled data. While semi-supervised learning invokes generative models to learn representations that support learning with few labels, self-supervised learning is based on supervised learning with a supervisory signal derived from the data itself. The goal of this PhD study is to develop novel semi-supervised and self-supervised methods for modelling signals of various modalities(e.g., speech, audio, vision, text) and analyse the complexity of the developed models. The PhD student during the study is further provided with opportunities to do research at other units and the headquarter of the Pioneer Centre as well as abroad.

PhD position summary/title: RE ANNOUNCEMENT – PHD IN HIGHER EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT
University educators are experts in various disciplines, but not necessarily in pedagogy. Therefore, a wide range of professional development(PD) activities have been organized to support university educators to explore and practice alternative and innovative pedagogical methods that maximize student learning. While most current PD activities focus on supporting the enhancement of constructivism-based and student-centered learning, it is not ensured that the participants of such activities would automatically learn from these PD activities and develop anticipated practices. The linear approaches to thinking on how university educators may learn from PD activities have been criticized, Rather, the research field of how teachers learn is turning to a paradigm that perceives teacher learning as a complex matter involving multiple interacting dimensions, including individual characteristics such as motivation, interest, intentions, cognitions, efficacy, and values in teaching, which may be largely impacted by prior experiences, as well as how educators interact with students, colleagues and their institutional environment. Complex factors may influence university educators’ practice of constructivism-based and learner-centered strategies and methods, including personal factors such as motivation and beliefs about teaching and learning and institutional aspects such as facilities and policies. While educators’ pedagogical beliefs have massive impact on their activities regarding strategy choices, organizing teaching activities and assessments, Discrepancy between educators’ beliefs and practices is often observed, which may generate obstacles to the success of PD activities. In sum, teacher learning from PD activities is situated, context-bounded and culturally sensitive, which calls for further research attention based on mixed methodological designs.
