(11) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdocs in computational materials physics, including code development

We are hiring up to three outstanding and highly motivated postdoctoral candidates to join the research group on computational materials physics lead by me, Professor Anna Delin ( www.kth.se/profile/annadel ), KTH, Stockholm, Sweden. Our research is based on advanced first-principles electronic structure calculations, combined with atomistic spin Hamiltonians and/or phenomenological models to study fundamental magnetic and topological phenomena from a computational/theoretical perspective. Current research interests in the group include spin dynamics, flexomagnetism, emergence of topological magnetic textures, topological magnons, 2D magnetic materials, and femtosecond physics. The research is funded through highly competitive grants from KAW ( kaw.wallenberg.org ) and the Swedish Research Council. Code and method development is an important part of our activities, and we foresee that one postdoc will primarily focus on bringing a selection of our in-house developed electronic structure and atomistic spin dynamics codes to current high-performance computer architectures, such as the GPU-based LUMI supercomputer ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LUMI ), which is the fastest supercomputer in Europe and third fastest globally. Furthermore, we also wish to develop new scientific visualization and analysis approaches for the complex magnetic phenomena we investigate, using the Inviwo software, as part our vision to develop a ”materials digital twin”. We foresee that this will be the main focus for one postdoc. Finally, we are also highly interested in hiring experts on time-dependent DFT. For all positions, the exact work tasks will depend on the applicant’s expertise and personal profile. The work will be conducted in close collaboration with experimental and computational research groups, including experts in scientific visualization, in Uppsala, Örebro, and Norrköping. The physical phenomena we study are of relevance for future information technology such as for example ultra-low-power spintronics and devices for neuromorphic computing.

(12) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Researcher in control and management of electric vehicle to grid systems

Driven by the environment concern and sustainable requirement, electric vehicles (EVs) have attracted global attention as they provide more environmentally friendly transportation. However, the large-scale utilization of EVs will greatly increase the electricity consumption in the grid. If charging of EVs are not managed, it will pose significant impact on grid and require expensive grid reinforcement. On the other hand, vehicle to grid (V2G) and smart charging will provide opportunities to minimize grid impact and provide grid support for smooth integration of EVs. Moreover, V2G can be integrated with renewables to form a virtual power plant (VPP) for enhanced sustainability and profits. This project will hire two researchers, one researcher will work on the development of optimization strategies for EV charging and integration as well as coordination of VPPs, the other researcher will work on the power electronics and control for V2G systems.

(14) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Self-learning Systems for Automated Security

The research follows an approach where attacks and response actions on an IT infrastructure are modeled as a game between an attacker and a defender and where strategies of attackers and defenders co-evolve through self-play. Reinforcement learning techniques are studied to approximate optimal control strategies. In addition to analytical modeling and analysis, a testbed and a simulation environment is available for experimentation, training, and evaluation of control strategies. The successful candidate will join a group of researchers that work on topics related to this project. KTH was established in 1827 as Teknologiska Institutet (Institute of Technology), and had its roots in Mekaniska skolan (School of Mechanics) that was established in 1798 in Stockholm. But the origin of KTH dates back to the predecessor to Mekaniska skolan, the Laboratorium Mechanicum, which was established in 1697 by Swedish scientist and innovator Christopher Polhem. Laboratorium Mechanicum combined education technology, a laboratory and an exhibition space for innovations. In 1877 KTH received its current name, Kungliga Tekniska högskolan (KTH Royal Institute of Technology). The King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf is the High Protector of KTH.

KTH is the highest ranked technical university in Sweden. It is ranked top 100 in the world among all universities in the 2020 QS World University Rankings.
