The Ehrlich lab is seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow to study mechanisms by which myeloid cells promote progression of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). Our previous research revealed that heterogeneous myeloid cells become altered in leukemic microenvironments to support T-ALL progression. We are currently pursuing research to identify the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms of myeloid-mediated T-ALL support, with the goal of designing novel therapeutic strategies. The postdoctoral fellow will design and implement in vitro and in vivo assays using mouse models of T-ALL and primary patient samples to identify myeloid cell types and associated signals that support distinct molecular T-ALL subtypes, and they will assist in analysis of single-cell transcriptional profiling data to develop novel testable hypotheses.

 

The Postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged to develop as an independent scientist within the collaborative and supportive environment of the Ehrlich lab. They will also have opportunities to gain mentorship experience working with our talented undergraduate and graduate trainees at UT Austin.

Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the project is in two parts, and there is an expectation that the Postdoctoral Scholar will be meaningfully involved in both. The first is quantitative analysis of state administrative data from the Texas Education Research Center (ERC), National Student Clearinghouse, and Texas Workforce Commission. Analyses will measure the college and early career to returns to high school math and science test scores and coursework, with an emphasis on assessing potential racial and gender differences in such returns between students who graduate from high school with comparable measured STEM ability and experience. A second component will see the implementation and evaluation of an online Canvas course plug-in, developed in consultation with UT-Austin’s Liberal Arts Career Services, to help Sociology majors at UT link their undergraduate coursework to careers, with an interest in scaling the plug-in after evaluation.

The Institute for Geophysics at The University of Texas at Austin (UTIG) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to study methane hydrates in geological systems.  UTIG is one of the three research units of the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin. Scientists and students at UTIG conduct expeditionary research in Earth Science in all parts of the world, and are also involved in planetary missions and climate modeling. These research projects produce large data sets and require computational analysis and visualization.

The Postdoctoral Fellow reports to Dr. Maria Croyle in the College of Pharmacy to facilitate a funded research project to evaluate the physical and biochemical properties of materials that sustain the viability of primary cells and established cell lines when stored at ambient and elevated temperatures.  A secondary focus will be the evaluation of the performance of a panel of stabilized vaccines (viral, mRNA, protein subunit) after administration in several in vivo models of infectious disease. 

The Department of Population Health at the Dell Medical is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher Fellow. The position will be assigned for 1 year from start date, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals, with option to continue until 1/31/2029. Position is a one-year assignment which can be renewed on an annual basis up to a total of five years. Previous time in a postdoctoral fellow position (whether paid or unpaid) at the University or at any other university counts towards this time limitation (unless the area or discipline changes).

 

The PRIDE Health Lab within the Department of Population Health at Dell Medical School is seeking a postdoctoral scholar with a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Sciences to expand the sexual and gender minority adverse childhood experiences scale and to improve the measurement of SGM identity-based life adversity. The study will include co-design sessions (including human-centered design and liberating structures methods) with the project community advisory board to develop a new measure of early life adversity in SGM adults. Along with the work being done on the SGM ACEs study the postdoctoral scholar will be a part of the Texas Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health Research and have the opportunity to spearhead an independent research program.

A research post-doctoral position is available in the Benge TECHANS lab at the University of Texas at Austin.  This position will assist with an R01 funded project on smartphone technology usage, prospective memory functioning, and Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions.  The post-doc will be involved in data collection in older adult patient populations, community outreach, data analysis, and data presentation, and will collaborate with clinical scientists at Baylor University and Baylor Scott & White Healthcare. This position involves a significant amount of patient-facing time for study participant recruitment and conduction of research visits. This position also involves administrative tasks, working with the PI, department, sponsors, and institution to support the compliance, financial, personnel and other related aspects of the clinical studies.

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher to fill a two-year postdoctoral fellow position at the Bureau of Economic Geology to assist with experimental design and measurements that are part of a larger project focused on stimulating hydrogen production from mafic and ultramafic rocks. The successful candidate will conduct laboratory experiments that will answer fundamental questions about hydrogen production from rocks that include identifying reaction pathways, quantifying how much hydrogen can be produced, and understanding the role of reaction catalysts to increase yield of hydrogen production.

The postdoctoral fellow will be joining a multi-University team and will be responsible for the design, implementation, and interpretation of laboratory experiments. The position requires experience in rock-based laboratory experiments and characterization, and a knowledge of metamorphic geochemistry.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has funded a large, multi-method project designed to examine the role of industry-based certifications (IBCs) in the K-12 and postsecondary pathways of Texas students. IBCs are credentials awarded by businesses, industry groups, or state certifying entities to signify students’ acquisition of industry-aligned knowledge and skills. The project will include site visits to high schools across Texas to conduct interviews with principals, school counselors, career and technical education (CTE) teachers, and students participating in CTE programs who earn IBCs. This research will explore factors that facilitate or inhibit students’ receipt of IBCs, including K-12 accountability policy and financial incentives, school strategy, educator beliefs and experiences, and student perceptions of IBCs.

 

This position will also support the Home to Texas (H2TX) program at UT Austin, where undergraduate students from communities underrepresented at UT Austin return to their community over the summer to engage in research and data collection. Dr. Giani is one of the faculty leads on the H2TX program for 2024-25. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will collaborate with Dr. Giani to lead H2TX students’ interviews with school counselors in their home communities to examine the barriers and opportunities counselors perceive in preparing students from their high school for college and career. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will supervise all H2TX students’ data collection in Summer 2024 and a select group of H2TX students in the 2024-25 academic year who choose to pursue this research on barriers and opportunities to preparing students for college and career.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled coastal urban climate postdoctoral fellow to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in atmospheric science, climate change, and numerical modeling, with a focus on investigating the impacts of urbanization on extreme weather events, particularly in the Gulf Mexico coastal states. The candidate will be based at UT Austin and be affiliated in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. The researcher will get an opportunity to actively collaborate with different research groups at UT Austin and also with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Austin is a highly vibrant city and provides access to numerous activities beyond the research and academic experience through UT Austin. Under the supervision of Drs. Zong-Liang Yang and Dev Niyogi, this research will investigate the impacts of urbanization and global warming on landfalling TCs through a comprehensive approach involving numerical modeling and deep learning techniques.

The postdoctoral fellow will join a university-funded study at The University of Texas at Austin as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar. This position is under the supervision of Dr. E. The Urban Information Lab (UIL) at the University of Texas at Austin is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to lead the development, implementation, and deployment of an Urban Digital Twin Model project. Specifically, in part one of this project, the successful candidate helps in developing a live fire incident map and air pollution and heat dissipation forecast model. The successful candidate will work across disciplines, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, join the Good Systems community, and get access to computing nodes at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC).

The Oden Institute is an organized research unit that fosters interdisciplinary programs in computational sciences and engineering, computational medicine, computational geosciences, mathematical modeling, applied mathematics, data science, software engineering, and computational visualization. PhD must have been received within the past three years. The position is funded for a year with possibility of continuation based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding. The appointment can be renewed up to 4 times, but an overall duration of 2 or 3 years would normally be expected.

The Postdoctoral Fellow reports to Juan Guan in the College of Pharmacy to investigate the assembly mechanism of protein condensates in cancer signaling. Research in the Guan lab is at the interface of physics and biology (https://juanguanlab.wixsite.com/biophysics/). The team employs highly interdisciplinary approaches in cell biology, quantitative imaging, and biomaterials to probe the underlying mechanisms in biophysical systems and explore new bio-related applications. The applicant will have the opportunity to learn cutting-edge cell imaging techniques and have the freedom to choose a project applying protein biochemistry or cell biology techniques to exciting biophysics questions including but not limited to novel cancer mechanisms.
