NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available for highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to join the laboratory of Dr. Aubin Moutal, in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at St Louis university to study novel proteins involved in chronic pain in the context of autoimmunity. Our work focuses on first identifying determinants of the transition from acute to chronic pain by reverse translating clinical findings to then perform a complete mechanistic characterization of how these new factors influence chronic vs physiological pain. The PI has a strong record of high impact papers with multiple recent publications in Science Translational Medicine, Pain, and PNAS. Through the active external collaborations with the New York University (Dr. Rajesh Khanna), the University of Arizona (Dr. Frank Porreca) and with the Institut neuromyogene in France the candidate will also grow an interest in ion channel regulation, central mechanisms of pain and paraneoplastic syndromes, respectively.

(08) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:    Post Doctoral Fellow

A postdoctoral position is immediately available for exceptionally motivated and creative individuals in the laboratory of Dr. Anutosh Chakraborty at Saint Louis University, Missouri. Using a system biology approach, the Chakraborty lab aims to understand molecular mechanisms that regulate development and progression of obesity, insulin resistance and NAFLD/NASH. Prior work from the lab established that the enzyme inositol hexakisphosphate kinase-1 is a target in metabolic diseases. The current focus is to define functions of a novel ubiquitin ligase in these diseases using knockout mouse models and pharmacologic tools. The postdoc will be primarily responsible to determine role of this ligase in lipid accumulation, endoplasmic reticulum stress, metabolism, and survival of hepatocytes in vitro and in vivo. He/she will also be engaged in identifying/validating ubiquitination targets of this ligase in these processes. Candidates with a solid background in ubiquitination, molecular/cellular biology and biochemistry and a strong publication record in the areas of ubiquitination, obesity, and/or NAFLD/NASH are encouraged to apply.
