19 Postdoctoral Fellowship at Karolinska Institute, Sweden

Applications are invited for a fully-funded postdoctoral position in Onur Dagliyan’s Group at the division of Molecular Neurobiology. The lab’s research focus is to uncover experience-driven protein signaling mechanisms in the mouse brain by developing new protein engineering technologies. The group is building a new interdisciplinary research program as there is an immense potential for new fundamental insights to be discovered

The current project will be focused on creating a novel animal model of bone metastatic neuroblastoma both from murine and human cells. It will further use single-cell RNA-sequencing to characterize the experimental model that has been generated. The aim is to investigate the cellular and molecular landscape of neuroblastoma bone metastases at the single cell level and mechanisms of communication between cells within the tumor microenvironment in order to search for resistance mechanisms and novel therapy options. The postdoctoral candidate will be mentored by Dr Baryawno on the proposed project. The EUbOPEN consortium (https://www.eubopen.org/) is an Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) funded project with the overarching goal to enable and unlock biology in the open. The project consortium consists of 22 partners from academia and industry. EUbOPEN is funded until May 2025 and has a total budget of 65.8 million euros covered by a grant from the IMI as cash and in-kind contributions from the EFPIA companies, IMI Associated Partners, and non-EU partners. The EUbOPEN Team at Science for Life Laboratory establishes protein family platforms for the profiling and discovery of chemogenomic compounds and chemical probes. Our goal is to investigate molecular mechanisms in DNA repair and cancer metabolism. We are individuals that work in teams combining experts in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, pharmacology, medicine, and data science. Essential aspects of our work are research, teaching, and collaboration on national, international, and intradepartmental levels. The Department of Oncology-Pathology at Karolinska Institutet conducts basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer. The position is placed in the research laboratory of Associate Professor Simon Ekman. The group of Associate Professor Simon Ekman focuses on the development of novel treatments for lung cancer. The overall aim is to develop new oncological treatments through the approach of personalized cancer medicine.

We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a post-doctoral fellowship dedicated to explore the synergisms between the epigenome and the 3-dimensional nuclear architecture to effectuate oncogene expression from new perspectives. The successful applicant is expected to drive a postdoctoral project in the labs of Anita Göndör at the department of Oncology and Pathology, as well as to participate in collaborative efforts with both national and international collaborative labs with a focus on breast cancer. Our lab is equipped with a Mi-seq machine and a 5-color confocal microscope, and is located within the Theme Cancer section of BioClinicum at Karolinska Institutet.

The Department of Dental Medicine at Campus Flemingsberg focuses on the education of dentists and dental hygienists. In addition, we perform research, dental specialization training and provide patient care by specialist dentists. Karolinska Institutet and the rest of Scandinavia have been world leaders in dentistry for decades. A postdoc position is available in the research group of Professor Ernberg at the Department of Dental Medicine, Division of Oral Diagnostics and Rehabilitation. The research group focuses on mechanisms behind orofacial muscle pain and conduct translational research. This is a one-year position with the possibility of an extension.

The Department of Oncology-Pathology is searching for a postdoctoral fellow to work with Dr. Rolny and co-workers to study gene expression programs governing tumor-associate macrophage (TAM) phenotypes during tumor development. The Department of Oncology-Pathology conducts basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer. The overall aim of your postdoctoral studies is to seek to identify risk genes and genetic predictors for both treatment outcomes in OCD as well as suicidal behaviours in the general population. Critical data for your studies has already been generated.  For OCD, we have rich data on treatment response (both for psychotherapy and psychopharmaceuticals) in >3000 OCD patients who have already been genotyped on the Illumina Global Screening Array. Genetic data for >5000 matched controls are also available and thousands more OCD case and control DNA samples are in pre-processing. Furthermore, we are currently generating whole-exome sequence data for all samples to allow rare coding variation to be fully explored. In addition, detailed data has been collected at the phenotype level, which is linked to longitudinal register data from birth to multi-year follow-up after completed treatment. 

We are looking for a skilled and motivated post-doc to join Nikolas Herold’s lab at the Division of Pediatric Oncology and Surgery, Department of Women’s and Children’s Health at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Our research is translational and focused on improving cancer treatment by studying molecular mechanisms underlying therapy resistance and using this knowledge to develop novel treatment strategies. Our aim is to translate our preclinical work into clinical trials that can reach the clinic and patients in the near future.

We seek dedicated and creative postdoctoral researchers to join our team. You will be involved in studies exploring the conditions of use (adherence, compliance, off and on-label use) and the effect (effectiveness, safety) of a number of licensed drugs and devices in ‘real world’ (routine practice) conditions. You will study unique data sources, including several Swedish Quality Registers and the Stockholm CREAtinine Measurements (SCREAM) project, a longitudinal administrative healthcare utilization cohort of >3 million residents of Stockholm with complete information on undertaken laboratory measurements. We employ both classic and advanced statistical methods, within the target trial emulation framework and with particular emphasis on causal inference statistics.

The research group of Dr Claudia Kutter seeks a Postdoc (either computational or computational/experimental) in the field of functional genomics and RNA biology. The Kutter lab has a track record in deciphering molecular mechanism by which RNAs (i.e. long noncoding, transfer and small RNA) regulate genes and genome structure in mammalian somatic tissue and in the germline (Geng et al. Genome Research 2022, Søndergaard et al. Gut, 2022, Gao et al. Genome Research 2022, Atanasoai et al. bioRxiv 2021). As a Postdoc in the Kutter lab you will be part of a multidisciplinary and collaborative research team active within the fields of RNA and chromatin biology, functional genomics and regulative transcriptomics.

The postdoctoral researcher will investigate a series of experimental G protein-coupled receptor ligands using electrophysiology methods. The overall goal is to increase the understanding of drug-receptor-interactions of clinically relevant ligands.

The project is focused on laboratory investigations of antipsychotic drugs and related ligands. For these purposes, the dopamine, serotonin, and muscarinic receptors will be used in the studies. In addition, genetic variants of these receptors, with relevance for clinical conditions and/or drug binding, will be studied.
