The successful applicant will be based at the Centre of Volatile Interactions, VOLT, within the Terrestrial Ecology Section, thereby joining a lively research environment covering a wide range of topics such as plant ecophysiology, ecosystem ecology, biogeochemistry, soil biology and ecosystem-atmosphere interactions. Our section is a diverse group comprising research and teaching staff members, laboratory technicians, PhD candidates and MSc and BSc students, focussing on many aspects of plant and microbial ecology, biogeochemistry and global change. The successful candidate will be hosted by Associate Professor Kathrin Rousk and will join the Ecosystem Ecology group focussing on moss-cyanobacteria associations in different ecosystems, from the Arctic to the Tropics.

We seek one or two talented and highly motivated postdocs interested in investigating the interface between gene transcription, RNA metabolism and genome stability to join the laboratory led by Professor Jesper Svejstrup. The successful candidate(s) will be employed as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM) at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. The employment period is for 3 years starting 1 September 2023, or soon thereafter.

The position is associated with the Section for Geobiology at the Globe Institute, and the Physics of Ice, Climate and Earth section at the Niels Bohr Institute. The successful candidate will have a degree in geoscience with strong experimental skills within geochemistry, geobiology and paleoenvironmental reconstructions. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of Earth’s long-term environmental and biological history, and experience with geochemical analyses of sedimentary records. Experience and expertise with Earth system modeling is a plus.

The Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), Denmark, invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in European monastic history. The position is fully funded by the research project When Danes Prayed in German financed by the Danish Research Council (2023–2025).

A 4-month Post Doctoral position within synthetic Inorganic Chemistry with relevance to molecular quntum information technology applications is available between 01-09-2023 and 31-12-2023 in the Piligkos group, Inorganic Chemistry Section, Department of Chemistry, University of Copenhagen. A PhD within Chemistry with emphasis on synthesis of coordination complexes is required. Experience with synthesis of homo-and hetero-dinuclear lanthanide coordination complexes, as well as with single crystal diffraction, SQUID magnetometry, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and handling of cryogenic liquids is of special importance to this position.

Our research aim is to understand cardiac arrhythmia and structural heart disease through genetics, and how such diseases can lead to cardiovascular events. We are a team of dedicated researchers passionate about translational science, with access to excellent research facilities in modern laboratories, and large high-performance computing clusters. 

We are looking for candidates within the fields of geology and geochemistry, and more specifically metamorphic petrology. Fieldwork in Greenland will be required, and therefore previous field experience in remote arctic areas is a requirement. It is also mandatory that the applicants have previous experience using the thermodynamic software for modelling metamorphic systems. 

The project will study up-cycling of waste plastics by using CO2 to produce useful organic building blocks, and upscale these processes. Our objectives include facile degradation and/or modification of PET, PS, PE, PA and ABS in order to produce efficient absorbents and adsorbents for CO2, primarily for DAC (direct air capture) conditions. These molecules will be evaluated for CO2 capture and functionalization. Our objectives include development of efficient CO2 absorbents and simultaneous CO2 up-concentration for further applications in biological and chemical CO2 conversion reactions.

We aim to delineate the common molecular networks involved in the lifespan and health promoting effects of dietary restriction and its mimetics. We have designed a pipeline to determine biologically relevant pathways affected by these interventions. We will analyze the metabolome, transcriptome and miRNome of samples obtained from C. elegans, as well as adipose tissue and serum from mice, rats, and humans after dietary interventions. We will also perform metagenomics analyses of the microbiota of mice, rats, and humans since changes in the microbiome have been associated with the effects of dietary restriction. We will correlate these findings with lifespan and/or metabolic profiling using data integration to identify evolutionarily conserved pathways that are commonly affected. The relevant pathways will then be scrutinized using gain- or loss-of-function models in C. elegans, mice, and mammalian preadipocyte cell lines, providing new insights into how these dietary interventions affect health span in multiple organisms, including humans.

We are looking for a dedicated research assistant for a new project titled “SearchLight”, which focuses on developing the next generation of search engine supported by photonic integrated circuits (PIC). The project is led by Prof. Christina Lioma and Prof. Ingemar Cox from UCPH and Prof. Hao Hu from Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

The group of Functional Genomics at the University of Copenhagen is looking for a highly motivated postdoc to work on atrial development, morphogenesis and function using the zebrafish model organism. Employment is from 1 August 2023 or as soon as possible.

The successful applicant will join Jing Tang’s research group at the Department of Biology and will be based at the Center of Volatile Interactions (VOLT), a Centre of Excellence funded by The Danish National Research Foundation. Tang’s group focuses on understanding high-latitude terrestrial ecosystem dynamics and associated feedbacks under changing climate, primarily based on integration of process-based modelling and observations. By joining this group, the candidate will also be affiliated to Terrestrial Ecology Section (https://www1.bio.ku.dk/english/research/te/). Both the VOLT center and the section offer a wide range of research topics in plant physiology, biogeochemistry, soil biology, and ecosystem-atmosphere interactions.

The project aims to analyse the extent to which the concept of circularity affects the legal distribution of risks in the supply chains and whether circular supply chains call for new liability standards and new collaborative contract models. The project focuses on the building, construction, and housing commodity sectors with regard to both private and public purchasing as case studies.   The project is hosted by CEPRI – Centre for Private Governance which is a collaborative research center lead by prof. Vibe Garf Ulfbeck. The overall aim of the centre is to conduct research in the legal implications of private governance, i.e., private actors taking over (traditionally) public tasks and functions. CEPRI provides a stimulating, diverse, international, and inclusive work environment with approx. 30 researchers with various legal expertise and background.

Past research has shown than people have a rich language for describing the feel of haptic signals. This project will explore the use of natural language processing techniques for predicting user descriptions of haptic signals and guiding haptic signal design. The project focuses on creating sensory language models and human-AI interaction for collecting data and updating the models.
