Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Deep Learning for Protein–Protein Interactions
Protein structure is essential for understanding their function as well as for developing drugs targeting proteins. Recently, a deep learning method that can predict the structure of most proteins was made freely available and a database with predicted structure was released. However, proteins do not act alone – they act together with other proteins. Therefore, the next major challenge is to use these types of methods for predicting protein–protein interactions. Initial studies from us have shown that it is possible to predict accurate structures of a large part of dimeric proteins using either a modified version of AlphaFold2 or AlphaFold-multimer. However, there are still many proteins that cannot be built accurately, nor are we able to always distinguish interacting from non-interacting protein pairs and to build larger complexes accurately is still an unsolved problem. In this project, we are recruiting two postdocs to leverage recent advances in the field of machine learning to build better deep-learning models for predicting protein–protein interactions and to apply these methods to biologically relevant problems.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Mathematical Analysis
The position will be associated with the project “Crystalline measures” financed by Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. The subject of the studies will be crystalline measures, quantum graphs and quasicrystals. This project is based on the recent discovery that spectra of Laplacians on metric graphs lead to exotic one-dimensional measures being Fourier quasicrystals. We shall try to understand the connection to sphere packing and Fourier interpolation.

(08) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Modeling Polar and Mid-Latitude Climate Connections
The polar regions of the Earth are warming faster than the rest of the world which is manifested in a dramatic loss of sea ice. The underlying processes of the observed accelerated changes are not fully understood, yet they propagate through the entire global climate system with impacts on weather, ecosystems, and geopolitics. The overarching goal of this post-doc project is to understand how changing aerosol emissions and concentrations, cloud optical properties, and sea ice extent in the polar regions impact two-way interactions between polar regions and lower latitudes, e.g. in terms of atmospheric meridional heat transport, large-scale circulation, and precipitation patterns.
Deadline : 17 January 2022.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral fellow in Aerosol-Cloud-Climate Interactions
The overarching goal of the post-doc project is to investigate how aerosol perturbations propagate to large-scale cloud and climate variables via cloud microphysical properties, and based on this knowledge improve the description of relevant microphysical and dynamical processes in a general circulation model. Previous studies have shown that climate models potentially overestimate the impact of aerosols on cloud properties compared to satellite observations, which could imply that the models give a too strong aerosol anthropogenic forcing estimate. We know that small-scale cloud feedbacks, such as changes in cloud drizzle and entrainment, may explain parts of the discrepancy between observations and large-scale models, but it is not clear how this knowledge should be implemented in models.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Researcher in Inorganic Chemistry with focus on electrocatalysis
The project is about development of efficient heterogeneous electrocatalysts and mechanistic studies of the catalytic process for oxidation of alcohols, mainly glycerol. The project is primarily about synthesizing, characterizing and evaluating heterogeneous catalysts. Electrocatalysis is an important area of research as efficient catalysts save energy on chemical processer and can make entirely new chemical processes possible. We not only strive to find and rank effective catalysts, but we also strive to understand the catalytic reaction mechanisms.
