Postdoctoral position summary/title: CAR T Cell Therapy approach to Type 1 Diabetes.

The Beckman Research Institute at City of Hope is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in a novel project developing an immunotherapy for type 1 diabetes, a disease in which insulin-secreting pancreatic β cells are targeted and destroyed by a patient’s autoreactive T cells.  One approach for treatment of patients with type 1 diabetes is reducing or eliminating these autoreactive effector memory T cells (TEM) while sparing T cell populations required for normal adaptive immunity.  The goal of this project is to design a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) to selectively target an antigen overexpressed by these TEM cells and evaluate its potential in preclinical studies.

(12) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Super-Resolution Microscopy – NIH Funded Research.

A Postdoctoral Fellow Position is available to probe the mechanisms of alcohol use disorders. In the U.S., this chronic relapsing brain disorder is estimated to occur in 15 million people. The resulting pattern of long-term alcohol use can lead to cancer and diabetes; it may limit the life span of an individual by more than 20 years. Unfortunately, current treatments for alcohol use disorders are inadequate. Jovanovic-Talisman laboratory has been probing the disorder at the molecular level: We develop new methods to perform quantitative single molecule localization microscopy (qSMLM). This super-resolution imaging technique allows us to detect individual molecules in cells and biospecimens. We have been using qSMLM to assess how alcohol perturbs the dynamic organization of signaling domains that harbor opioid receptors (ACS Chemical Neuroscience, 2019, Tobin et al.). The NIH funded Postdoctoral Fellow will probe the nano-organization of kappa and mu opioid receptors in cultured cells and rat brains.

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Lymphoma Research.

We are seeking goal-oriented, highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with a passion for science to lead translational immuno-oncology projects.

The main goal of our laboratory is the translational development of immunotherapies for lymphoma. We have a keen interest in understanding how tumor-cell intrinsic mechanisms regulate the endogenous immune response against lymphoma, and how this informs pathways driving response and resistance to immune-based treatments in this disease. We aim to leverage this information to 1) develop novel biomarkers that promote precision-based medicine and 2) discover strategies to further enhance the efficacy of existing immunotherapies.
