This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to engage in research within an established research group focusing on a Rapid Response Vaccine Pipeline. This team is funded by Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) to validate a subunit vaccine platform and systems to respond to future viral pandemics and epidemics. The research to be carried out includes rational design and molecular cloning of subunit vaccines based on viral fusion proteins, protein expression and purification, in vitro protein characterisation, animal immunizations and analysis of immune responses. The selected person will direct research activities performed by a team of 5 individuals to further their expertise and growing research profile to achieve national recognition in their discipline. At this level it is expected that in incumbent will efficiently manage service and engagement roles and activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to engage in research to further their expertise and growing research profile to achieve national recognition in their discipline, as part of a large multi-party research project focused on reducing lodging risk in sorghum, funded by the Grains Research and Development Corporation in partnership with Advanta Seeds and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. This project will use multi-disciplinary approaches to increase stalk strength and reduce lodging in sorghum. This project will combine physiological trait dissection, high throughput phenotypic screening, genome wide association mapping and genomic prediction, and will make use of a suite of existing large-scale genetic and genomics resources developed for sorghum. The project aims to produce a range of applied outcomes which will result in reduced losses and increased genetic gain for yield for farmers. In addition there will be ample opportunity for publication and student supervision.
