(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Pulsed Laser Deposition of Magnetic Systems
You will be responsible for running a basic pulsed laser deposition system and fabricating high-quality thin films, nanocomposites and multilayers. Furthermore, you will carry out research that fits with one or more of the research fields of the Laboratory for Mesoscopic Systems including frustrated spin systems, ultrafast processes, hybrid systems and spintronics. In addition, you will be part of a team ascertaining the properties of the systems with large-scale facilities (synchrotron x-rays and neutrons). In this postion, you will have the opportunity to create nanostructures with state-of-the-art nanofabrication methods, and study ultrafast processes with lab-based equipment and x-ray-free electron lasers. Finally, you are expected to make measurements and take responsibility for the group instruments such as the x-ray diffractometer, and SQUID-VSM and PPMS measurement systems.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in integrated photonics for classical and quantum memories by nanoimprinting
This project aims to realize a quantum memory on chip using the same material to generate, guide and store few photons. Dopants will be incorporated into sol-gel of metal-oxides, typically lithium niobate, prior to nanoimprint the chip with the different building blocks. The counter-intuitive perception that nonlinear optical effects are limited in random assemblies of nanocrystals give rise to puzzling questions that will be investigated. Can those assemblies be used as a testbed to demonstrate strong light confinement and efficient frequency conversion without phase matching? Is there a method to control the orientation of the crystals during the fabrication and to design quantum devices? Can we build scalable and efficient PICs for classical and quantum applications?

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc positions in Experimental Quantum Engineering group
Arrays of individual atoms trapped in optical tweezers are promising for quantum simulation and quantum information processing. The new apparatus in our group combines arrays of individual atoms and arrays of small atomic ensembles, with the individual atoms for encoding qubits/spins and atomic ensembles for ancillary operations. This project is devoted to implementing new schemes for scalable local qubit operations, fast and non-demolish measurements, and a significantly higher experimental repetition rate. These developed schemes enable the study of out-of-equilibrium quantum dynamics, quantum information processing protocols with mid-circuit measurement and feedback, and eventually quantum error correction.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position: Data science application for spinal cord injury recovery prediction
Traumatic spinal cord injury has strong and life-long implications on the affected patients and their families. Naturally, patients have critical questions regarding their prognosis of recovery and probable long-term disability to plan for their health-related, financial, and social future. Apart from personalized recovery predictions, there is also a need to accelerate the search for effective treatments of spinal cord injury through clinical trials which are challenging given that spinal cord injuries are rare and highly heterogeneous. In this project, we investigate different flavors of machine learning in order to predict how an individual will recover neurologically and in terms of functional ability (e.g. walking ability). Based on these models we perform in silico trial simulations to guide the selection of patient cohorts and investigate the potential benefit of synthetic controls in clinical practice. At the core of this project is the clinical translation of the developed concepts for which we collaborate with experts in algorithm deployment to launch web-based tools that can be used by clinicians and patients alike to explore recovery trajectories and trial designs.

In this context, we are searching for a postdoctoral researcher who will work on modelling and studying very high frequency seismic wavefields, and the small-scale processes that cause and affect them. Depending on your background and interest, you will be working on:
- designing simulations of very high frequency wavefields with generative DL models and deterministic HPC computations
- studying the propagation and properties of observed and simulated wavefields, including source, structure, and site effects
