In this collaboration with DTU Biosustain, DTU Compute is aiming to build computer models of challenging learning tasks in agriculture, such as the prediction of patterns in satellite imagery of soil microbiome sampling sites across planet Earth, and causal interactions between microbes sustaining soil microbiomes of various categorized environments inferred from DNA barcodes. We will use open-source satellite images as a starting point for the modeling. The National Food Institute at DTU is looking for an ambitious microbiologist (molecular bacteriologist) for a temporary position to contribute with expertise in the tasks we have serving as the EU Reference Laboratory for Antimicrobial Resistance (EURL-AR). In this position, you would be involved in our efforts to collaborate with the international network of national reference laboratories to achieve reliable, quality assured AMR results based on phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility testing (broth microdilution) as well as genotypic results, i.e. whole genome sequencing (WGS) of single isolates. A 3-year fully funded Postdoc position is available in the Disease Systems Immunology Group at DTU Bioengineering, Technical University of Denmark for a candidate with excellent competences in metagenomics analysis. You will work on two different collaborative projects with access to new metagenomics catalogues that will be used to identify bioactive pathways for degradation of plant materials to infer the capability within bacterial species or strains for production of different metabolites.

We seek a 2-year Postdoc to carry out research on integrated optical phased array at DTU Electro. Optical phased array (OPA), the optical counterpart to phased array radar, can electronically control the phase of light emitters and allow for very stable, rapid and precise beam steering without any mechanical moving parts. Due to the unique features of compact size, fast scanning and low cost, integrated OPA is becoming a transformative technology for solid-state 2D optical beam steering.

The project “Hybrid Quantum Chemistry on Hybrid Quantum Computers” is at the border of quantum computing and quantum chemistry. It is a joint effort of the research groups of professor Sonia Coriani (DTU), Professor Stephan A. Sauer (University of Copenhagen, UCPH), and professor Jacob Kongsted (University of Southern Denmark, SDU). As postdoc in Collision Avoidance for Autonomous Ship you will have a key role in the AI-NAVIGATOR project, whose overarching objective is to develop, implement and test at TRL5 an Advanced Navigation Assistance System that provides guidance to the ship navigator in compliance with IMO COLREGs and the navigation best practices of “Good Seamanship”. AI-NAVIGATOR focuses on developing methods and tools for the data-driven modelling of “Good Seamanship” through the untapped knowledge base about navigation behaviors stored in the professional training simulators of maritime academies, and the subsequent integration of such model into systems for situational awareness and collision avoidance.

Large scale physical simulations are important for understanding nature and for developing new technologies for the green transition. However, simulations are limited by computational power, and thus are also the technologies and materials that can we develop to e.g. aid in the green transition. To allow larger and more complex simulations of physical systems, we wish to do simulations where the physics only have to be solved in a few discrete points, and then use deep learning to fill in the simulation in the remaining space in a physically correct way. We want to initially attempt this for magnetic fields because magnets are used in a large number of sustainable applications and their physics is well-described and understood

This postdoc position will focus on modelling the magnetocaloric liquefaction device using an existing model which has been used for over a decade for modelling magnetocaloric devices at DTU. Modelling activities will include material screening, development of more detailed and more computationally efficient regenerator models and assessing design concepts for the prototype magnetocaloric system. The results of the modelling will be crucial for the project partners, who will realize a liquefaction prototype, and you will get to collaborate with these partners.

Then you are the right applicant to this three year position in the Protein Glycoscience and Biotechnology group, Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine. The project focuses on elucidating the recognition of complex oligosaccharide epitopes from clinically important cell surface glyco-conjugates by a panel of enzymes using X-ray crystallography combined with in silico and protein biophysics tools. The overarching aim is provide a basic understanding of how target enzymes establish complex recognition patterns to select specific motifs form the glycan forest that decorates cell surfaces. This will set the stage for enzyme engineering efforts to provide the lacking insight to solve a global health challenge.

Your overall focus will be to develop and validate computational models of repair of composite wind turbine blades, for the evaluation of post-repair lifetime, optimizing the repair and curing conditions. You will work with nearby colleagues, and with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad. Your primary tasks will be to:

• development of computational models of repair of wind turbine blades, using thermal and light radiation curing,
• evaluation of overall and post-repair life time of wind turbine blades, , using finite element software Abaqus and Python programming language.  
• analysis of the influence and materials defects on the lifetime and exploitation of wind turbine blades.

The postdoc will work on an international research project with multiple industry partners in the intersection of forecasting, optimization, and machine learning for flexibility services in transmission and distribution grids. It is envisioned that approaches based on machine learning, optimization, and online control will be developed to handle large datasets and optimization problems in a computationally efficient and reliable way. The Postdoc will collaborate with stakeholders from the industry to optimize the use of electric trains for delivering flexibility services to the power system. The project will target the (i) estimation of the available flexibility potential, (ii) forecasting of electric train consumption, and (iii) optimization & control of trains for power system, flexibility. The focus can be set depending on the profile of the successful applicant.

As successful candidate, you will be enrolled within the BIO-MAG program in the QPIT section of DTU Physics and explore the optical properties of quantum defects in low-dimensional materials. The particular focus will be on defects with magneto-optical coupling suitable for the ultra-sensitive detection of magnetic fields at the nano- to micrometer scale. Other applications within quantum communication, sensing and computing can also be explored if relevant. You will work in a state-of-the-art optical laboratory, applying techniques including photo-luminescence imaging, optical spectroscopy and magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The candidate will collaborate closely with the groups of Prof. K. S. Thygesen on theoretical materials and defect design and Assoc. Prof. T. Booth on material synthesis and defect engineering.

The position is part of the research initiative CUQI: Computational Uncertainty Quantification for Inverse problems funded by the Villum Foundation and headed by Professor Per Christian Hansen. We consider inverse problems (such as image deblurring, tomographic imaging, source reconstruction, and fault inspection) and we apply methods from Bayesian inference to determine the solution’s sensitivity to errors and inaccuracies in the data, the models, etc. We create a mathematical and computational framework that enables intuitive and extensive application of UQ techniques to a range of inverse problems in academia and industry.
