Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Neural Mechanisms of Epilepsy
This posting is for a Postdoctoral Fellow as part of the Howard lab’s research program in the Department of Neuroscience at University of Texas at Austin. We are seeking applicants with an interest in using electrophysiology in combination with other techniques to study the mechanisms underlying epilepsy. We use transgenic mouse and rat models and a variety of scientific approaches to understand how changes to synaptic signaling, circuit connectivity, and neural plasticity underlie neural hyperexcitability, seizures, and behavioral comorbidities of genetic and acquired epilepsy disorders. Multiple projects are available, an appropriate research direction will be agreed upon by the incumbent and the PI. A background in electrophysiology is not required, only the desire to learn and use these methods. We are a collaborative, inclusive research team of postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students, and research technicians.
