PhD position summary/title: PhD position in Theoretical Particle Physics

The nature of the quark-gluon plasma is currently being investigated at the Large Hadron Collider, and the three-dimensional internal structure of the proton is one of the major goals of the upcoming Electron Ion Collider. This position focusses on theoretical studies of these two different systems using a common method: jets, which are collimated sprays of energetic particles. The key ingredient is the use of a recoil-free jet axis, which enables theoretically precise calculations, and reduces the sensitivity of measurements to various sources of contamination.

PhD position summary/title: PhD position: Parkinson’s disease.

In this project you will expand on our previous findings by validating the roles of Mcl1 in-vivo and ex-vivo, map the regulatory network around Mcl1, and finally attempt to bridge the gap between Mcl1 regulation and PD. By meticulously addressing how and when Mcl1 and its regulators contribute to cell death and survival we may be able to identify the most crucial components required to keep dopamine neurons alive.

PhD position summary/title: PhD in Proof Systems for Modal Fixpoint Logics

The aim of the Derivation Systems for Modal Fixpoint Logics project is to develop a general and uniform theory of proof systems for modal fixpoint logics. Such a theory will extend that of basic modal logics with proof systems that allow for derivations that are circular or feature other mechanisms for dealing with the recursive nature of fixpoints. The envisaged methodology for designing and studying such proof systems will integrate insights from proof theory with ideas from the theories of automata, infinite games, and (co-)algebra.
