(13) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoc position in Primary cilia and pH-regulatory ion transport proteins

Most cells in our body contain antenna-like structures on their surface called primary cilia, which are important for regulating cell-cell communication and thereby the development and function of our organs. Defects in cilia can lead to severe human diseases called ciliopathies, which often affect the kidneys. The aim of this project is to investigate how two pH-regulatory ion transporters, NBCn1 and NHE1, are targeted to the primary cilium of mammalian kidney cells, and how they regulate pH within the cilium. NBCn1 and NHE1 regulate essential processes in our cells and organs and their dysfunction is linked to diseases like cancer and hypertension, but it is not clear how they get localized to and function at cilia. Likewise, intraciliary pH and its possible effect on ciliary function are unknown. The results will provide new insight into fundamental cellular trafficking mechanisms, the regulation and subcellular functions of NBCn1 and NHE1, and into how pH may affect cilia-mediated signaling.

(16) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoc in Epigenetics and DNA Replication at Center for Protein Research (CPR)

The project will address transmission of chromatin organization trough DNA replication and how this is linked to genome/epigenome stability, including the interplay with replication timing. The interplay of histone dynamics and chromatin replication with epigenome and genome stability remain poorly understood. Our recent discovery that new histones control repair pathway choice and the identification histone recycling mechanisms are new entry points to these questions (Becker et al., 2021 Nature; Nakamura et al., 2019 Nat Cell Biol; Petryk et al., 2018 Science, Saredi et al., 2016 Nature). You will take an multi-disciplinary approach to address this interplay, using our custom functional genomics tools (ChOR-seq, Repli-ATAC, SCAR-seq), replication fork proteomics (NCC / iPOND), advanced imaging technologies, and genome-editing. You will be part of a highly collaborative group and we expect that you will join other ongoing projects and contribute actively to develop new technologies and supervise students.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoc in Applied Machine Learning for Epigenetic memory at Center for Protein Research (CPR)

You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on how epigenetic information is transmitted to daughter cells and guide cell fate choices. Using a panel of proteomics and genomic tools to interrogate the impact of DNA replication on epigenome maintenance together with computational approaches, we have obtained data supporting that the chromatin landscape oscillates across the cell cycle in a manner driven by DNA replication (e.g., Petryk et al., Science 2018; Reveron-Gomez et al., Mol Cell 2018; Stewart-Morgan et al., Mol Cell 2019, Alabert et al., Cell Rep 2020). You will drive your own project(s) by designing and developing tailored machine (deep) learning models for predicting, integrating, and interpreting epigenomic data sets on histone recycling and epigenome maintenance. You will also be involved in larger collaborative projects and engage with other lab members on our ongoing projects.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoc in development of multiplexed bioimaging method

The project aims at developing imaging method to achieve multichannel super-resolution imaging with conventional fluorescence microscopy. Besides their unsurpassed brightness, we also have the full control of the fluorescence emission color (from blue to near infrared) and fluorescence lifetime (from nanosecond to microsecond). In this project, we will extend the number of simultaneous detection channels and develop multiplex microscopy by combining the “normal” color channels with fluorescence lifetime channels imaging. We will use the developed multiplexed imaging method to tackle the key question about protein translation at the subcellular level.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoc in lipid regulation of G protein-coupled receptors at the Department of Biomedical Sciences

GPCRs relay signals from the outside to the inside of the cell by coupling to G proteins and other intracellular mediators. GPCRs are the targets of around 30% of approved drugs and development of new and improved therapies is a major focus of academic groups and companies worldwide.Chemokines drive cell migration through interactions with chemokine receptors, thereby controlling the immune system, development and other functions. Chemokine receptors and other GPCRs are dynamic proteins and regulated by a number of cellular factors including membrane lipids. We have identified specific lipids with different functional effects on chemokine receptors. About The University of Copenhagen, Denmark – Official Website

The University of Copenhagen is a public research university in Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded in 1479, the University of Copenhagen is the second-oldest university in Scandinavia, and ranks as one of the top universities in the Nordic countries and Europe.

Its establishment sanctioned by Pope Sixtus IV, the University of Copenhagen was founded by Christian I of Denmark as a Catholic teaching institution with a predominantly theological focus. In 1537, it was re-established by King Christian III as part of the Lutheran Reformation. Up until the 18th century, the university was primarily concerned with educating clergymen. Through various reforms in the 18th and 19th century, the University of Copenhagen was transformed into a modern, secular university, with science and the humanities replacing theology as the main subjects studied and taught.

The University of Copenhagen consists of six different faculties, with teaching taking place in its four distinct campuses, all situated in Copenhagen. The university operates 36 different departments and 122 separate research centres in Copenhagen, as well as a number of museums and botanical gardens in and outside the Danish capital. The University of Copenhagen also owns and operates multiple research stations around Denmark, with two additional ones located in Greenland. Additionally, The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and the public hospitals of the Capital and Zealand Region of Denmark constitute the conglomerate Copenhagen University Hospital.

A number of prominent scientific theories and schools of thought are namesakes of the University of Copenhagen. The famous Copenhagen Interpretation of quantum mechanics was conceived at the Niels Bohr Institute, which is part of the university. The Department of Political Science birthed the Copenhagen School of Security Studies, which is also named after the university. Others include the Copenhagen School of Theology and the Copenhagen School of Linguistics.
