Prof. Alain Chong and Prof. Ying Weng are seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the newly established Postdoctoral Research Station in Business Administration at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, contributing to the development of the university’s research agenda.

• To formulate and articulate research objectives, alongside developing proposals for both individual and collaborative projects, utilizing established methodologies and techniques to execute research effectively within the specified area;
• To analyze data meticulously, interpret findings, evaluate scholarly texts, and contribute innovative insights, while adhering to project deadlines and collaborating seamlessly with team members and partners;
• To write up research work for publication and/or contribute to the dissemination at national/international conferences, resulting in successful research outputs;
• To identify opportunities and assist in writing bids for research grant applications;
• To build relationships with both internal and external contacts in order to exchange information, to form relationships for future collaborations and identify potential sources of funds and/or opportunities for collaboration.

We are recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work in the School of Chemistry on the dissolution and chemical transformation of metal oxides in sustainable solvents. The project will investigate the behaviour of metal oxide materials in alternative solvents such as ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents, with the aim of developing greener approaches to metal processing, recycling, and materials chemistry.

The successful candidate will undertake fundamental studies into chemical speciation and interfacial processes that occur during oxide dissolution. The role will combine laboratory-based dissolution, quantification with ICP-OES/MS, and separation through electrochemical deposition. Candidates with experience in analytical chemistry are desirable because the project involves advanced chemical state analysis with lab- and synchrotron-based X-ray spectroscopies to gain mechanistic understanding of metal–solvent interactions, insights into oxidation state changes, coordination environments, and dissolution mechanisms. 

We are looking for an experienced researcher whose expertise lies in mechanistic cardiac electrophysiology modelling, to work with Prof. Gary Mirams and Prof. Simon Preston on an externally-funded project entitled “A continually-learning framework for uncertainty quantification and translation of preclinical studies to human cardiovascular safety”. The aim of the project is to develop a statistical decision-support tool that quantifies the accuracy of mechanistic electrophysiology model predictions for drug-induced changes to electrophysiology observed in animal cardiovascular safety studies.

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher, whose expertise lies in statistics and computational methods, to work with Professors Theodore Kypraios and Philip O’Neill on an NIHR-funded project entitled “Beyond Data-Augmentation: Advancing Bayesian Inference for Stochastic Disease Transmission Models”.  The overarching aim of the project is to develop the next generation of statistical tools for fitting stochastic epidemic models to infectious disease outbreak data. The post will contribute to cutting-edge methodological research on Bayesian inference for complex stochastic transmission models, as part of a team developing analytic likelihood approximations and neural posterior estimation methods for epidemic data analysis.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work at the interface of statistics and epidemiology, using modern computational approaches to improve inference for real-world transmission models. The project seeks to deliver robust and scalable alternatives to traditional data-augmentation methods, with outputs including open-source software, careful evaluation on synthetic and real outbreak data, and training materials to support wider uptake. The successful candidate will disseminate their work through high-quality publications and contribute to advancing statistical methodology for stochastic epidemic modelling.

The School of Medicine, University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Research Fellow/Associate to join the Digital Cancer Screening Research Group in Translational Medical Sciences. 

This role will have specific responsibility for research and for developing research objectives and proposals on behalf of the Digital Cancer Screening Research Group. The role holder will be expected to plan and conduct work using approaches, methodologies, and techniques appropriate to Digital Screening and Artificial Intelligence research. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated researcher to join an exciting project investigating the genetic factors underlying accelerated brain ageing in people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). In this role, you will work with large‑scale data resources, including genomic and transcriptomic datasets, and link these findings with population‑based health record data.

You will be responsible for planning and conducting high‑quality research using appropriate analytical and methodological approaches. This includes contributing to study design, implementing statistical and computational techniques, and interpreting complex datasets. A key part of the role will involve preparing your research outputs for publication in peer‑reviewed journals and presenting findings within internal and external research networks.

In 2025, the University of Nottingham’s Rights Lab and King’s College London launched the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Slavery in War. The Centre aims for far-reaching insights that transform global responses to slavery in conflict settings. The role-holder will be part of the Centre’s inaugural ECR cohort, with mentorship from Centre co-leads and its cohort director. 

The role holder will contribute to the development of new approaches and techniques appropriate to the research. Specific projects will be identified in line with the role-holder’s expertise and Centre need. The role-holder will identify new areas for research and work with other ECRs on team-based projects.
