(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Research Associate in AI for Equitable Disease Modelling

The PDRA will lead the development of new computational and mathematical models to quantify and predict infectious disease risk, particularly for identifying high risk individuals and groups. The PDRA will translate conceptual frameworks into mathematical models of complex cross-scale disease dynamics across different epidemiological scenarios. A key responsibility is to test key assumptions about differential disease risk by integrating high-resolution socio-ecological, environmental, and novel health data from individual and population sources. This research will advance our understanding of how major infectious diseases of concern in the UK emerge, spread, and unequally affect different individuals and population groups.

Outcomes of this research will help advance the development of more equitable, spatial data-driven approaches to public health surveillance and pandemic preparedness, with direct links to public health policy. The findings will inform the development of a real-time spatial AI system to improve early detection and risk prediction, to protect vulnerable populations in the UK and in the future globally.

Deadline : 02 August 2026.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Associate (EDGE)

The Department of European & International Studies, School of Politics and Economics, King’s College London, is recruiting a fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on the Horizon-funded project Enhancing Democratic Support under Conditions of Geographic and Intersectional Inequalities in Europe (EDGE). The project is co-led by Prof Alexia Katsanidou, GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences and Prof Sofia Vasilopoulou, King’s College London.

The EDGE project addresses a central challenge for the future of democracy: how are economic inequalities – both objective and subjective – related to European citizens’ democratic support? It aims: first, to advance knowledge on the mechanisms through which different types of inequality undermine or, under certain conditions, reinforce democratic support; and second, to causally assess policy interventions to identify efficient solutions that strengthen democracy across diverse territorial and social contexts. The project integrates geographic and intersectional perspectives to show how personal experiences, social identities, and territorial contexts interact with media and digital networks in shaping perceptions of inequality and democratic support.

The successful applicant will have an excellent academic track record, a strong knowledge of research methods, and ideally have expertise in survey and/or experimental research and/or social data science. They will be expected to work with the design, collection and analysis of new survey data and survey experiments, co-author research outputs from the project, and organize events to disseminate the project’s findings.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Associate

We are a synthetic chemistry group working in supramolecular and biological chemistry, and nanotechnology. We work in the Francis Crick Institute in London, and at King’s College London.

Our research looks at how we can apply Supramolecular Chemistry in Biological settings. Supramolecular Chemistry is the study of intermolecular, non-covalent interactions. These non-covalent interactions are critical to protein folding, DNA base pairing, and cellular signalling. Supramolecular Chemistry applies these same principles to create artificial systems capable of performing complex tasks.

The McTernan Group aims to apply recent breakthroughs in artificial molecular machines, high-affinity host-guest chemistry, and metal-organic capsules, in biologically relevant settings. We work with rotaxanes, catenanes, macrocycles and capsules to synthesise functional architectures, creating de novo catalytic enzyme analogues, artificial cellular receptors, and targeted drug delivery vehicles. We also work to create supramolecular analogues of known therapeutic modalities. We work both in basic science, and on translational applications.

(13) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate

The evolution of radiofrequency and optical wireless networks for advanced communication and radar systems toward increasingly complex devices demands powerful digital signal processors to enable real-time data processing and rapid decision-making.

On the other hand, fundamental limitations of digital electronics in bandwidth and power consumption have resurfaced interest in analogue logic. An analogue processing engine can utilize fundamental properties of electromagnetic waves for massive parallel computations to enable massively parallel processing capabilities literally at the speed of light. Notably, the very nature of an analogue processor can facilitate dramatic reduction in size, weight and power compared to its digital counterpart.

In the past decade, there has been substantial progress in the development of processing units that perform matrix operations, by leveraging electromagnetic waves in free space and in guided wave structures. However, less attention has been paid to reconfigurable analogue structures that could be programmed on demand to perform the desired transfer function in radiofrequency and wireless optical networks, as well as through physical engineered materials. In this vein, a large number of relevant signal processing operations boils down to basic matrix operations.

About King’s College London, United Kingdom – Official Website

King’s College London (informally King’s or KCL) is a public research university located in London, United Kingdom, and a founding college and member institution of the federal University of London. King’s was established in 1829 by King George IV and Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, when it received its first royal charter (as a university college), and is one of the oldest universities in England. In 1836, King’s became one of the two founding colleges of the University of London. In the late 20th century, King’s grew through a series of mergers, including with Queen Elizabeth College and Chelsea College of Science and Technology (in 1985), the Institute of Psychiatry (in 1997), the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery (in 1998).

King’s has five campuses: its historic Strand Campus in central London, three other Thames-side campuses (Guy’s, St Thomas’ and Waterloo) nearby and one in Denmark Hill in south London. It also has a presence in Shrivenham for its professional military education and in Newquay, Cornwall, where its information service centre is based. In 2019/20, King’s had a total income of £964.3 million, of which £200.5 million was from research grants and contracts. It has the fourth largest endowment of any university in the United Kingdom, and the largest of any in London. It is the 12th largest university in the United Kingdom by total enrolment. Its academic activities are organised into nine faculties, which are subdivided into numerous departments, centres, and research divisions.

It is a member of academic organisations including the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, and the Russell Group. King’s is home to six Medical Research Council centres and is a founding member of the King’s Health Partners academic health sciences centre, Francis Crick Institute and MedCity. It is the largest European centre for graduate and post-graduate medical teaching and biomedical research, by number of students, and includes the world’s first nursing school, the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery. King’s is at times regarded as part of the “golden triangle” of universities located in the cities of Oxford, Cambridge and London.
