Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Call for Postdoctoral Fellow (Full-time Fixed-term Project Researcher)
The IRCN Babylab (Tsuji lab) at University of Tokyo is seeking a postdoctoral candidate for the transdisciplinary project “Tracking developing sensitivity to dyadic interactions” in collaboration with the Softbank Beyond AI Institute and Tom Froese (Embodied Cognitive Science unit, OIST). The goal of this project is to develop a gaze-based minimal virtual reality paradigm to identify infants’ sensitivity to real-time, gaze-mediated dyadic interactions. The successful candidate will be involved in developing, conducting, and analyzing dual eye-tracking experiments in human infants and adults. Physiological measures like heart rate will also be collected. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, concurrent computational modeling work is also possible. The candidate will be located in Tokyo and primarily supervised by Dr. Tsuji, co-supervised by Dr. Froese.
Deadline : Feb. 28, 2022

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Call for Postdoctoral Fellow (Full-time Fixed-term Project Researcher)
at Department of Physics, Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo (UTokyo)
Our research goal is to realize Positronium (Ps) Bose-Einstein Condensation (BEC). Ps is the bound state of an electron and its antimatter positron. It is the lightest atom. BEC has not been realized yet for systems which contain antimatter. If Ps BEC is obtained, many interesting and important experiments be performed, e.g., antimatter gravity measurement and 511 keV gamma-ray laser development. The challenges are to cool Ps sufficiently and to obtain very high Ps density. New techniques are required and currently under study.
Deadline : January 7, 2022.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Call for Postdoctoral Fellow (Full-time Fixed-term Project Researcher) (Tsuji Laboratory) at IRCN, The University of Tokyo
Cumulative research on infants learning Asian languages indicates that Asian infants’ acquisition of phonology and vocabulary lags behind Western infants by a few months. We hypothesize that this can be attributed to differences in the social environmental cues provided by caregivers across different cultural backgrounds. The successful applicant will work on conducting and analyzing experiments on infants’ sensitivity to social cues during early vocabulary acquisition and coordinate their implementation across multiple labs in two Western (English and French) and four Asian (Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Singaporean Mandarin) language contexts.
Deadline : Dec. 31, 2021

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Call for Postdoctoral Fellow (Full-time Fixed-term Project Researcher) (Computational Psychiatry)(Transdisciplinary Project: “Reinforcement”)
IRCN is seeking Postdoctoral Fellow (Project Researcher) who is highly motivated to contribute to the field of computational psychiatry, to work on team science project investigating the computational and neural mechanism of psychiatric disorders (primarily schizophrenia) under the framework of reinforcement learning (and utilizing other computational tools including deep learning). The successful candidate will be expected to develop computational model and behavioral experiments on patients to study the mechanism of psychiatric disorders, inspired by (but not limited to) recent findings on dopamine function (e.g., https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2115-1), with the possibility of extending to fMRI experiments. The candidate will be able to work or interact with IRCN PIs and collaborating faculties with a wide-spanning backgrounds of computation, cognition, psychiatry and neurobiology, including Shin Ishii, Mingbo Cai, Sho Yagishita, Shinsuke Koike, Haruo Kasai and Kiyoto Kasai, and will be officially hosted in Mingbo Cai’s lab. The candidate will have the opportunity to utilize patient resources of ongoing cohort and clinical studies and the computational and neural imaging resources at IRCN.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow (Project Researcher) (Watanabe Laboratory)
Watanabe lab in the IRCN aims at understanding the dynamic properties of typical and atypical human cognition as dynamics ensembles of whole-brain activities. Our research target includes both healthy individuals and those with psychiatric conditions, and our methodological approach varies from human behavioural experiments using fMRI, EEG, TMS or motion capture device— to numerical and data-science-like manners. We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher for our projects covering both cognitive neuroscience and computational psychiatry.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:
In the Telescope Array (TA) Experiment in Utah, USA, an additional TALE hybrid instrument was installed to lower the energy threshold of the observation cosmic rays to be observed to below 10 17 electron volts, and its operation has been ongoing since 2018. We are currently constructing the TALE infill surface detector (SD) array, which will consist of additional SDs to lower the energy threshold by one order of magnitude. We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow who will be required to conduct research in ultra-high energy cosmic ray physics in the following roles:
– construction and operation of the TALE infill SD array,
– operation of the TALE and related experiment,
– data analysis of the TALE infill SD array and related experiments.
