PhD position summary/title: PhD Candidate for Department of Molecular Neurobiology
Our lab combines Drosophila and mouse genetics to unravel molecular mechanisms underlying motor neurodegenerative diseases. One of the diseases that we focus on is Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) peripheral neuropathy caused by mutations in tRNA synthetase genes. CMT is an incurable disease characterised by selective degeneration of peripheral motor and sensory axons, leading to progressive muscle weakness and wasting, and sensory dysfunction. Currently, no disease-modifying treatments are available for CMT, underscoring the need to gain better insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying this disease, a prerequisite for rational design of new drugs.

PhD position summary/title: PhD Candidate in Data Science for Immunology and Cancer Research
We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD candidate who will help our group advance immunology and cancer research by creating new methods to analyse complex datasets.
The human immune system is a natural defence mechanism against disease. Stimulated by vaccines or cancer therapies, it can fight pathogens or developing tumours in the body. Developing the next generation of such life-saving therapies will require a more detailed understanding of how the immune system works.

PhD position summary/title: PhD Candidate for DFT-MD Simulations and Vibrational Spectroscopy.
A PhD candidate for the development of DFT-MD simulations and vibrational spectroscopy. Over the last few years, the combination of DFT-MD simulations and vibrational spectroscopy has shown to be a powerful tool to characterise and rationalise the behaviour of complex inhomogeneous systems such as bio-polymers, water solutions, catalytic surfaces and solid-water interfaces. While powerful, the technique has not yet reached the maximum of its potential and the development of new tools will enlarge the horizon of what we can know and study.
