(14) Postdoctoral Position
Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc in Science Studies.
The project Between Knowing and Doing will investigate how clinical diagnoses enter and are used in research, how they are transformed in different systems of research, and how differentiated diagnoses return to the clinic and patients. Collaborating within the Center offers an opportunity to follow diagnostic categories in practice and across biomedical research and clinical medicine. The project will take its starting point working with the flagship project SEGMENT at the Center, which works with categorizing diabetes on several platforms, and then connecting findings to understandings of the concept of diagnosis from across the biological sciences, humanities and social sciences. Drawing on a practice-embedded philosophically informed approach, the project aims to bring us closer to understanding how biomedical knowledge and disease categories are co-produced in the cases of obesity and diabetes. The candidate might draw on ideas of epistemic flexibility, ‘epistemic iterations’ as well as historical categories underlying current usage.

(16) Postdoctoral Position
Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc in Art and Science.
The postdoc will be employed as part of the project Food, fat and faeces: Metabolism in contemporary bio art and beyond, which examines what sort of readings might come about if one pays sustained attention to the metabolic qualities in artistic practices. Food, fat, and faeces are taken as key foci for the analyses – they are key themes within art history and artistic practices, as well as being key ‘moments’ in metabolism whereby parts of the world are taken into the body, incorporated, transformed and excreted. This project responds to the potential of combining cultural and art historical analysis with a sustained attention to metabolic processes, as a means to develop both methodologies and analytical frameworks for studying metabolic science in culture. The postdoc will be responsible for running a study group on art and metabolism for local artists, setting up transdisciplinary workshops at the Medical Museion, and contributing along with the PI and co-PI to the development of a metabolic humanities.
Deadline of Postdoc Position: April 19, 2021
(17) Postdoctoral Position
Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc in Energy Homeostasis and Obesity Pathogenesis.
The aim of this project is to identify and characterize new endocrine-like satiety signals that are secreted into circulation in response to experimental overfeeding in mice. We have established a mouse model of experimental overfeeding that enables us to dissect physiological and molecular defence mechanisms against overfeeding-induced weight gain. In close collaboration with the Schéele Group and the Deshmukh Group, the postdoctoral candidate will perform MS-based proteomics and peptidomics on tissues and media from cultured cells both obtained from animals undergoing experimental overfeeding. Following prediction of secreted factors and shortlisting of candidate signalling molecules, the next step is to functionally evaluate these in vivo and scrutinize effects on energy balance and animal behaviour. This research project heavily benefits from the unique interdisciplinary and collaborative culture at the Center.

About The University of Copenhagen – Official Website
The University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is a public research university in Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded in 1479, the University of Copenhagen is the second-oldest university in Scandinavia, and ranks as one of the top universities in the Nordic countries and Europe.
Its establishment sanctioned by Pope Sixtus IV, the University of Copenhagen was founded by Christian I of Denmark as a Catholic teaching institution with a predominantly theological focus. After 1537, it became a Lutheran seminary under King Christian III. Up until the 18th century, the university was primarily concerned with educating clergymen. Through various reforms in the 18th and 19th century, the University of Copenhagen was transformed into a modern, secular university, with science and the humanities replacing theology as the main subjects studied and taught.
The University of Copenhagen consists of six different faculties, with teaching taking place in its four distinct campuses, all situated in Copenhagen. The university operates 36 different departments and 122 separate research centres in Copenhagen, as well as a number of museums and botanical gardens in and outside the Danish capital. The University of Copenhagen also owns and operates multiple research stations around Denmark, with two additional ones located in Greenland. Additionally, The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and the public hospitals of the Capital and Zealand Region of Denmark constitute the conglomerate Copenhagen University Hospital.
