(03) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: The postdoctoral researcher will be working with a new project, the ‘Nordic Helicobacter Pylori Eradication Project (NordHePEP)’. This large-scale project is based on data from several national health data registries in all five Nordic countries and includes a cohort study that will evaluate how the risk of oesophageal and gastric cancer is influenced by treatment of the gastric bacteria Helicobacter pylori, and a case-control study that will examine how certain medications influence the risk of developing these tumours compared to a sample of the general population. Also other projects examining upper gastrointestinal cancer may be used.

(06) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Our mission is to unravel mechanisms underlying the acquired myopathies associated with modern critical care (long-term mechanical ventilation and immobilization), develop/evaluate intervention strategies, and translate promising interventions to the clinic.  This work involves unique experimental intensive care unit model and methods to analyze skeletal muscle and motor protein function together with omics analyses.

(08) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: The overall goal of the proposed project, with Ass Prof Ljubica Matic as the PI, is to explore one of the targets/pathways previously identified by large-scale omics analyses of human atherosclerosis and animal studies, with the aim to develop novel treatment options targeting unstable atherosclerosis. The postdoc will explore the biology of one recently discovered candidate protein, which we have found to play a key role in smooth muscle cell activation and modulation during vascular remodeling and atheroprogression. The postdoc will further evaluate this candidate as a desirable drug target with respect to various alternative possibilities of targeting this pathway in metabolic control. More specifically, the project will be based on characterization studies in murine models in vivo and in vitro, utilizing relevant models for mimicking vascular injury and atherosclerosis, as well as metabolic models of liver disease and diabetes, combined with modulation of the expression of this target. The postdoc will work with both full and conditional knock-out mice for this target, which are already in house and available for the studies. Importantly, the work will practically encompass microsurgery on mice and rats, primary cell isolations, sophisticated in vitro studies, histology and microscopy, as well as managing different collaborations and core facilities for analyses

(09) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: This project is part of a comprehensive translational research effort to improve prevention and treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease, in particular atherosclerosis. The overall goal of the proposed project, with Prof Ulf Hedin as the Ass Prof Ljubica Matic as PIs, is to perform integrated large-scale multi-omics analyses of the human vascular samples, with the aim to develop novel targets/pathways that can be evaluated for treatment of atherosclerosis. More specifically, comparative integrated analyses will be conducted of genetic polymorphisms (SNPs), mRNA and non-coding RNA (ncRNA) transcripts, as well as proteins and metabolites from several hundreds of samples, in a complex systems biology approach

(10) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: The research group, studies metastatic invasion of cancer cells into the liver. The group focuses on liver metastases of colorectal and pancreatic cancer, which are the main cause of death for patients with these cancer types. In order to chart cell types and cell interactions, they apply single-cell sequencing of mouse and human tissue based on novel sc-seq methodologies  They investigate the molecular and cellular mechanics of liver metastases invasion. Using mouse models, explant cultures and confocal 2-photon live cell imaging, they track invading metastatic cells.

(11) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Our research aims at better understand the factors influencing risk and prognosis of breast cancer. We have moved beyond the standard risk factors through an intense collaboration within the Breast Cancer Association Consortium to target the genetic determinants of breast cancer. Several years ago we realised that a lot more could be learnt from understanding the so called mammographic features and their relation to overall and subtype specific breast cancer risk. Other projects we are working on are genomics of interval breast cancers, inherited variance for breast cancer risk and prognosis and identification of tissue specific markers for disease progression. Lately we have performed several randomised controlled trials all with the identifying means to reduce the incidence of breast cancer
