(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Fellow – Dayton Group

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on a project related to EMBL’s Human Ecosystems Transversal Theme, where the focus will be using human organoid models to understand how environmental exposures and genetic perturbations influence airway plasticity and susceptibility to cancer. The project will involve collaboration with the Cortes-Ciriano group at EMBL-EBI as well as additional collaborations with clinicians and environmental epidemiologists. Within this framework, the specific project can be tailored to fit the candidate’s particular expertise and interests. This specific position is for a 2-year appointment with the possibility and expectation for renewal. The successful candidate will be intrinsically motivated, and will lead their own project, contribute to other projects on a collaborative basis (both in the lab and with external collaborators) and may guide PhD and Masters students in their research. Importantly, the candidate will contribute to shaping the environment and research of a young and growing research team.

Deadline :3 October 2023

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellowship: spatial and single-cell computational biology for precision oncology

We are looking for a computational biologist / bioinformatician / biostatistician who combines data-driven biological discovery research, requisite computational or statistical method development, and central management and integrative analysis of the research data. The position provides excellent opportunities for complementing your existing skills with new ones, building up your research profile in computational biology and biomedicine, and making a real contribution to improving patient outcomes. The research group of Wolfgang Huber at EMBL develops statistical data analysis and machine learning methods for modern biotechnologies, applies them to biological and biomedical discovery, and translates them into reusable tools by engaging in open source software communities. The interdisciplinary and international team has strong collaborations with researchers in cancer and developmental biology. They use cutting edge experimental data to discover and understand biological processes and to develop new biomedical applications.

About The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), Germany – Official Website

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is a molecular biology research institution supported by 27 member states, two prospect states, and one associate member state. EMBL was created in 1974 and is an intergovernmental organization funded by public research money from its member states. Research at EMBL is conducted by approximately 85 independent groups covering the spectrum of molecular biology. The list of independent groups at EMBL can be found at www.embl.org. The Laboratory operates from six sites: the main laboratory in Heidelberg, and sites in Hinxton (the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), in England), Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Rome (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain). EMBL groups and laboratories perform basic research in molecular biology and molecular medicine as well as train scientists, students, and visitors. The organization aids in the development of services, new instruments and methods, and technology in its member states. Israel is the only full member state located outside Europe.
