(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc position in project ‘The Business Corporation as a Political Actor’ (0.8 FTE)

The postdoc position will execute one of the subprojects within this larger project, namely the one on ‘Economic Theories of the Corporation’. This subproject seeks to integrate insights from prevailing economic theories of the firm into the debate about the political theory of corporations. For example, can economic theories account for corporate power? To what extent do economic constraints arising from market competition make it more difficult to render corporate political power legitimate? Since corporations are both economic and political actors, the subproject aims to understand whether and how these two sides can be integrated. This is crucial for the development of a sound political theory of corporations.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: TWO Post-doc positions on technology assessment of CO2- based chemicals via electrochemical conversions (0.9 FTE)

CO2 emitted from waste combustion can be collected and converted into useful chemicals via electrochemical reactions. These CO2-based chemicals signify diverse value chains and opportunities. It is critical to steer the early-phase decisions towards the value chains that offer high climate benefits and therefore, to ensure sustainable and responsible innovation. Assessing the potential climate benefits, trade-offs and carbon circularity of complex CO2-based electrochemical conversion (ECC) value chains requires robust analysis from a system perspective.

This research group is focused on investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms of action of toxic substances on the (developing) nervous system using in vitro approaches. You will work mainly on the MOMENTUM project  external linkthat aims to determine the effects of micro- and nanoplastic particles on human health. Specifically, you will investigate if micro- and nanoplastic particles can cross the blood-brain barrier and if these particles exert adverse effects on neuronal function and development. To that aim, you will cultivate and improve various in vitro models (cell lines, primary cultures, induced pluripotent stem cells) and you will use various techniques, ranging from biochemical assays to immunohistochemistry, cellular imaging (fluorescence microscopy) and microelectrode array (MEA) recordings to investigate neurotoxicity in vitro.
