(04) PhD Degree – Fully Funded

PhD position summary/title:    PhD Position In the Field of Evaporated Perovskite Solar Cells

You will fabricate and study metal halide perovskite thin films for use in solar cells. The focus will be on characterisation of thin films during co-evaporation. These measurements will enable insights into the film-formation, crystallisation dynamics, and optimal growth conditions for evaporated perovskites. In close collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems you will test these perovskite materials and thin films for their suitability for solar cells. Research includes the vacuum deposition of perovskite absorbers, the characterisation of thin-films and solar cells, and the development of new in-situ characterisation methods. The overarching goal is to gain an understanding of the processes happening during film-deposition and their impact on the final device performance. Your work will comprise layer deposition, characterization of materials and complete devices and theoretical description of film formation processes. The work is happening in a highly collaborative environment and there will be many opportunities to work with experts in the field in Freiburg and with external collaborators.
