PhD position summary/title: Lithium-Sulfur Batteries
Your tasks involve the synthesis of nanocomposites of MXenes and Transition Metal Oxides, the characterization of their morphology with various techniques such as XRD, SEM, TEM, XANES and XPS. We expect to reveal the conversion kinetics of polysulfides through electrochemical characterization methods; fabrication of various heterostructures for electrodes and separators will be performed; detailed electrochemical tests will be carried out. Together with our project partners we will fabricate Li-S coin and pouch cells.

PhD position summary/title: one PhD position in the area of Bacteria and Materials interactions.
The scope of the position is to investigate the efficacy and applicability of probiotics to treat biofilm-associated wound infections. The goal here isto define and establish formulations containing probiotics that optimally support wound healing and possess a long-term stability. The work will contribute to a fundamental understanding of the correlation between the formulated material properties and the bioactivity of the encapsulated probiotics. The tasks include selection of suitable probiotic strains, identification of carrier materials and their fabrication strategies, and assessment of bioactivity and stability of the encapsulated probiotics.

PhD position summary/title: PhD student in electron microscopy of catalytic clusters.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a Master’s degree in materials science, physics, chemistry or a related discipline with experience in scripting or programming (MatLab, Python etc.). Candidates with demonstrated research skills and excellent background will be considered. Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory, basic comprehension and oral expression skills in German are desirable.

PhD position summary/title: Computational Biology PhD student
We are looking for an excellent candidate with a University degree in Natural sciences, computational biology or engineering. The student should have strong academic record with high University grades, practical experience of work on research projects and a good command of the English language. In addition, the candidate should have strong programming skills, experience in data analysis and good knowledge of statistics and molecular biology. Knowledge of basic immunology and cancer biology is beneficial, but not required.
