Would you like to develop your own research ideas, establish new collaborations, and pursue new funding opportunities? In short: will you join our team?
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc on ultra-high field MRI
The focus of this position is on the implementation and validation of microimaging methods at high-/ultra-high-field NMR spectrometers (14-28 T), to boost sensitivity, spatial and chemical resolution in studies of small-volume soft biological materials. The goal of this collaborative project is to achieve cellular-level and microstructural information, not accessible at lower/intermediate magnetic fields, to ultimately aid more sensitive characterization of structure and dynamics in a range of biologically-relevant materials, from bio-regenerative tissues to soft matter and food systems.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc researcher Tipping the balance in dietary change
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and pro-active scientist with agent based modelling experience, as postdoc in the NWO funded project ‘Tipping the balance in dietary change: behavioural aftereffects of designing healthy and sustainable food environments’. This interdisciplinary project aims to co-create healthier and more sustainable food environments employing research-through-design approaches and unravel the complex network of aftereffects together with WUR, Waag, Reinwardt Academy Amsterdam University of Arts, BeBright, RIVM, Municipality Utrecht, Municipality Amersfoort and Province Utrecht.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc position on Biodiversity Conservation at the Environmental Systems Analysis Group
This project is part of a RAAK-PRO project called ‘Boeren, burgers en buitenbeesten’, which aims to translate state-of-the-art monitoring data (drones, camera traps and citizen science) into insights that facilitate more effective management of meadow bird populations, predators and agri-environmental systems in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. Together with stakeholders you will develop models (e.g. Digital Twins), updated with a continuous stream of field data, to support the year-round monitoring of predators and meadow birds. This requires translating environmental observations (data) and expert knowledge into facts and actionable information (intelligence) for land managers. The development of such models will consist of the following tasks: 1) formulating field-relevant questions based on the information needs of land managers and developing insightful models together with ecological experts, 2) combining high tech data, algorithms, machine learning, simulations, expert knowledge, scientific insights, and visualisation tools in comprehensive digital twins of the predator-meadow birds-land management-nexus, 3) supervising and guiding MSc students, and 4) taking the lead in writing scientific publications on the project’s findings.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher Genetic Engineering of Mammalian Cell Lines
We, the Bioprocess Engineering laboratory, have an open position for a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in developing innovative tools for genetic engineering of mammalian cell lines for protein production. Your role will be to pursue a promising research project with a clear goal and direct industrial application. Together with our experienced and ambitious team and our collaborators from the departments of Microbiology and Virology you will be performing inventive research to push protein production levels beyond the current state-of-the-art. Specifically, you will be implementing a novel gene expression system based on highly topical scientific findings surrounding eukaryotic RNA polymerase II-independent gene expression. You will have the opportunity to independently design, coordinate and carry out the research based on your thorough understanding of molecular processes surrounding eukaryotic gene expression coupled to your proficiency in genetic engineering and cell line (e.g. CHO/HEK293) development.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc Multi-Criteria Analysis of Agricultural Landscapes in Agroecological Innovation Hubs
The project develops and applies a multi-criteria analysis (MCA)-based framework for prediction and evaluation of agroecological systems at the farm and value chain levels which will be based on sets of indicators proposed in previous projects, such as the TAPE tool to evaluate agroecology performance. This tool has been validated in tropical developing countries. Its applicability in Europe has not been demonstrated. In addition to this overarching framework, the project will propose or develop indicators specific to the local context of IHs.
