(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Assistant (PNU)

This post is for an enthusiastic and proactive Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Preventive Neurology Unit (PNU). The postholder will work on generating real-world evidence for the diagnostic value of a novel artificial intelligence technology for predicting the development of dementia in patients attending memory clinics with mild cognitive impairment using clinical and brain imaging data. This post is funded for 3 years by a grant from NIHR. The successful candidate will identify and recruit participants, and assist with transfer and curation of data. They will be responsible for taking a lead on deploying artificial intelligence software at QMUL for image pre-processing and analysis with support from the commercial partner (AINOSTICS Ltd), and for evaluating the diagnostic performance of the technology. The postholder will have the opportunity to present and publish results from the study.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Assistant

The Villar group investigates the transcriptional dynamics of mammalian systems, with a focus on cardiovascular phenotypes. Ongoing work integrates large-scale epigenomics and gene expression datasets across ex vivo mammalian tissues and cardiovascular models in mouse and human, with the aim of informing how interindividual genetic differences and environmentally-driven epigenetic variation influence cardiovascular gene regulation, cellular phenotypes and disease predisposition. The key duties of this role will be to plan and carry out experimental work, to collect and analyse data, and to write manuscripts and grant applications (such as postdoctoral Fellowships). The candidate will work in a world-class environment within the QMUL Epigenetics Hub (http://qmulepigenetics.com), and with collaborative links to cardiovascular experts and clinical colleagues.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Assistant

A Postdoctoral Research Assistant position is available at Queen Mary University of London in Dr Özge Eyice’s group to work on “Microbial link from organic sulfur compounds to methane in anoxic sediments” funded by the Leverhulme Trust. The project aims to understand the diversity and metabolism of microorganisms degrading DMSP and DMS to methane in anoxic estuarine and wetland sediments via microbial diversity profiling, stable isotope probing, metagenomics and metatranscriptomics.  The project involves dynamic modelling using carbon isotope data to predict future DMS-dependent methane production from anoxic sediments. The project is a collaboration with Prof Jon Todd (University of East Anglia) and Dr Alexandra Turchyn (University of Cambridge). You will be expected to carry out field sampling, work with anaerobic microcosms, perform bioinformatics analysis and develop models using carbon isotope data. You will also prepare manuscripts using high-quality data, make oral presentations and help supervise postgraduate students.

It dates back to the foundation of London Hospital Medical College in 1785.
