PhD position summary/title: PhD students in Quantum Nanophotonics

This project is part of the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT), a 12-year, billion-SEK initiative started in 2018 with the purpose of advancing Swedish academia and industry to the forefront of quantum technology, and to build a Swedish quantum computer. It is also funded by the European Research Council.

PhD position summary/title: PhD student position in Solid and Structural Mechanics

The project will be part of the activities within the Swedish National Centre of Excellence in Railway Mechanics CHARMEC – CHAlmers Railway MEChanics. CHARMEC was established in 1995 and is supported by Chalmers, Trafikverket and an industrial interests group comprising of ten partners. The long-term CHARMEC research and knowledge bank aims at reducing the railway’s costs for production, environment, operation and maintenance while improving safety, reliability and transport quality. Currently, some 25 research projects are carried out within CHARMEC.

The PhD project will be conducted in close collaboration with the Center for Service Research at Karlstad University and a number of manufacturing companies. The project will also include international collaboration for example through the ongoing establishment of a ”Nordic Engineering Services Network”, including Chalmers, Karlstad University, DTU (Technical University of Denmark) and CBS (Copenhagen Business School) in Copenhagen, and Aalto University in Helsinki.

PhD position summary/title: PhD student position in Terahertz Communication

Your research will be directed towards terahertz electronics for next generation of wireless systems. This includes research on system architectures and front-end active components for receivers and transmitters. The objective is to open up for new short-distance communication applications requiring ultra-high data rate. The research work will be pursued at terahertz and millimetre wave laboratory, Chalmers. You will fabricate demonstrators in our state-of-the art Nanofabrication facility at MC2 and perform experiments in the terahertz characterisation facility (Kollberg laboratory).

Chalmers University of Technology  is a Swedish university located in Gothenburg that focuses on research and education in technology, natural sciences, architecture, mathematics, maritime and other management areas.
The university was founded in 1829 following a donation by William Chalmers, a director of the Swedish East India Company. He donated part of his fortune for the establishment of an “industrial school”. Chalmers was run as a private institution until 1937, when the institute became a state-owned university. In 1994, the school was incorporated as an aktiebolag under the control of the Swedish Government, the faculty and the Student Union.
