Postdoc summary/title: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Invasion Ecology)
Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in Freshwater Invasion Ecology? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?
Biological invasions are a key driver of global change, causing irreversible ecosystem change, biodiversity loss and enormous economic burden. It is a global research priority to better understand what factors increase or dampen ecological impact of non-native invasive species. Current methods to predict impact have limited utility due to equivocal results depending on geographic location (space) and invasion stage (time) and do not scale to the complexity of natural environments. This project will form part of an ambitious Future Leaders Fellowship to develop trait based and scalable methodologies to better understand, predict, manage, and prevent negative effects of biological invasions.
Deadline : Wednesday 17 July 2024

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow in Zero Carbon Mobility Evaluation
Would you like to be part of a major collaborative research programme to help tackle transport’s contribution to the climate crisis? Are you looking to apply your research skills to understand the whole life carbon impacts of the transport system? Do you thrive on working in an exciting and creative environment committed to making a difference?

We are looking to recruit a passionate and committed researcher to drive forward our work on the whole life carbon and wider impacts of a transition away from individualised car ownership. Whilst the role will focus on the mobility transition, we encourage applications from applicants with the right skills who are currently working in other policy domains.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow in Digital Reaction Engineering
Are you an experienced and ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive Universities? Are you looking to apply your skills in reaction engineering to the development of new automated reactor platforms for reaction screening and process optimisation?
Development of synthesis and optimisation of reactions remain rate-limiting factors in pharmaceutical process development, often relying on resource-intensive trial-and-error approaches that are costly, time-consuming, and wasteful. This highlights the need to develop new digital methods that are capable of rapidly responding to emerging health challenges.
In this EPSRC funded project, we will combine expertise across the Universities of Leeds (Dr Adam Clayton, Prof. Richard Bourne), Liverpool (Prof. Anna Slater) and Cambridge (Prof. Alexei Lapkin) to create a network of digitally coupled reactors, capable of high-throughput screening and self-optimising manufacturing processes. This will be achieved by combining different flow reactor technologies, analytical techniques, and automated workflows to provide enhanced mapping of chemical space and generation of robust high-quality datasets.

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have experience related to 3D scanning, point cloud data processing or railways? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive Universities? Do you want to be part of an EU funded international innovation programme with collaboration between partners across Europe?
We seek a motivated and versatile Research Fellow to help develop novel 3D scanning technologies for railway track Switches and Crossings. You will be working on the XCROSS project which aims to make a step-change in railway maintenance. As part of this, you will work with an international consortium comprising a range of leading Universities, software companies, sensor companies, railway track owners and rail industry bodies.
