PhD position summary/title: PhD student in perovskite laser diodes
The project, funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant, is to develop a new generation of laser diodes based on metal halide perovskites.
Semiconductors based on organometal halide perovskites have shown great success in photovoltaic applications, demonstrating high power conversion efficiency over 25%. At the same time, they also have a huge potential for the design of functional materials and devices with new properties. For example, they demonstrates strong electroluminescence and tunable emission energy, making them a promising candidate for laser diodes.
You are supposed to work on one of the following tasks:
1, develop perovskite light-emitting diodes which can work under high current densities (towards lasing actions);
2, design and develop activity for lasing actions;
3, understand the device physics and/or photophysics of perovskite laser diodes.
As a PhD student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.

PhD position summary/title: PhD position in Polymer Chemistry towards Functional Materials
The PhD position is associated with the Wallenberg Wood Science Center (WWSC), which is a joint research center including groups from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology, and Linköping University with base funding from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. WWSC is a research center with a focus on new materials from trees, aiming to create knowledge and build competence that has the potential to form the basis for an innovative future value creation from forest raw materials. You will become part of the WWSC academy, which is a graduate student school. In this academy, you will get an overview of the research field within renewable materials from wood and gain knowledge of topics not directly connected to your current research. During the academy, students will connect with each other and industry to nurture future collaborations. This will prepare them for becoming the scientists, inventors, and engineers for tomorrow´s Swedish forest value chain. Read more at www.wwsc.se

PhD position summary/title: PhD student in Machine Learning
The research focus for the advertised position is machine learning for forensic science. The project involves development of novel probabilistic and deep learning models for answering various forensic questions such as estimating time of death, inferring causes of death, or finding metabolomic fingerprints. The modelling process will require extending and combining multiple frameworks in deep learning (such as variational autoencoders, convolutional neural networks), statistical models (such as state-space models), scientific machine learning (e.g. combining deep learning with differential equations) and interpretable machine learning. The project involves both fundamental research on new machine learning models and computational algorithms, as well as applied research to demonstrate the usefulness of the new methods in solving real world problems in the forensic field. The PhD project will be carried out in collaboration with the National Board of Forensic Medicine (RMV). Machine learning has made a significant impact during the past few years in medical applications that use similar kinds of data (metabolomics), and in the forensic field there is the possibility that machine learning and metabolomics will have a huge impact. The advertised PhD project will contribute to this positive development.
