PhD position summary/title: PhD student in applied physics with the focus on material science
The PhD studies of this position will focus on developing thermal energy harvesting materials devices and systems based on gel electrolytes, thermogalavnics and/or ionic thermoelectrics. The work will be conducted in collaboration with several companies within a European project.
As a doctoral student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.

PhD position summary/title: PhD student in Disability Research
The position is placed within the research project “Neural networks involved in the processing of cognitive demands in noisy conditions”. The aim of the project is to understand neural correlates of the interaction between noise (e.g., disturbing factors) and working memory load during the processing of manual-visual and oral-aural language. By testing individuals that are fluent in both a spoken and a sign language the same linguistic content is investigated in both language modalities. Your work assignments will include planning and conducting functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) experiments, statistically analyze data, and present results in scientific and popular science settings.

(03) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: PhD student in Engineering Materials with focus on Additive Manufacturing
The Division of Engineering Materials at the Department of Management and Engineering (IEI) at Linköping University is looking for a PhD-student in material and process development for additive manufacturing with a focus on electron beam powder bed fusion (EB-PBF) also known as electron beam melting (EBM). Equipment for this technology has recently been procured by the department and will be commissioned during spring of 2022. The PhD-student will be an important resource for developing the research activities connected to this new infrastructure.

The PhD position will be based at the Laboratory of Organic Electronics (LOE), belonging to the Department of Science and Technology, at the university’s Norrköping Campus. LOE is renowned for its world-leading research on electronic devices based on organic electroactive materials. Its primary theme involves the coupling of ions and electrons as signal carriers for applications in printed electronics, organic energy- and electrochemical devices, and organic bioelectronics. Currently, the research staff of the Laboratory includes about 150 researchers (professors, senior and junior scientists, and PhD students).

PhD position summary/title: PhD student in robust data-driven predictive machine-learning models for automotive time-series data
The objectives of the project are to increase reliability and availability of vehicles by modelling and uncertainty estimation for predictive maintenance based on streamed data. The project focuses on development of general methodology that is tested and applied on real use-cases. An area of specific interest is how to estimate prediction uncertainty and fuse that information when forming vehicle individual maintenance decisions in a robust way. Main topics are the development of new methods and machine learning models, based on streamed logged data from vehicle fleets, and integration of the models in the decision processes for vehicle maintenance including development of feed-back mechanisms so that the model performance can improve over time. Streamed data can be high frequency and high dimensional on-board data to be fused together with aggregated fleet-data from 100.000+ vehicles. The project is funded by Vinnova and performed in close collaboration with an industrial partner, Scania CV, together with researchers from collaborating universities.

PhD position summary/title: PhD student in Sustainable systems, specialized in environmental management and engineering
Biogas solutions are multifunctional and thus can contribute to solving several sustainability problems in parallel, thereby constituting role models for the circular society. Biogas, biofertilizers and additional products/services are produced from different types of biomasses, commonly in the form of waste and byproduct streams. There is a significant potential to expand the production of biogas, biofertilizers and other products and services, both in Sweden and internationally. A large share of this potential can be realized by intensifying the agricultural sector, in a sustainable manner, to simultaneously produce food, fodder and biogas feedstock. The recycling of nutrients in such systems replaces mineral fertilizers and can contribute to increased soil carbon.
