Synthesis of complex nanoparticles are an important base for the development of new materials for a wide range of applications that are of great importance for societal development. One such application is the field of energy generation, transfer, and storage that will be greatly facilitated by new smart designed catalytically active materials. Gas-phase synthesis of nanoparticles has shown to be a very versatile method of producing complex nanoparticles. Alloy, core/shell, and core/satellite nanoparticles can be synthesized and assembled into new nano-micro-structured materials. To in detail study the synthesis of these nanostructures, this project will adopt in situ analysis techniques based on brilliant X-ray sources, such as from the synchrotron facility PETRA III in Hamburg. A specially designed synthesis chamber will be built, allowing the use of small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), anomalous SAXS (ASAXS), and X-ray fluorescence (XRF), for in situ time-resolved structural, chemical, and spatial analyses of complex nanoparticles during synthesis.

You will develop and synthesize a range of ion selective membrane materials and test their suitability as active channel material in electrophoretic devices. This task requires great attention to details and as various parameters such as molecular weight, cross-linking density, pore-size, and fixed charge concentration will be tuned towards optimizing iontronic transport performance while ensuring compatibility with patterning techniques such as photolithography, inkjet- and aerosol jet printing. Multiple printing and fabrication parameters (e.g., cross-linking agents, exposure dose, surface treatment, additives for rheology optimization) will be investigated – geometrically as well as in terms of ion transport properties – to optimize membrane performance. Various target species will be tested regarding their electrophoretic transport efficiency using fluorescence probes and mass spectrometry.

As a postdoc in this project, which is funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team with world-leading expertise in structural biology, machine learning, computational biophysics, electrophysiology and neuroscience spread across the leading universities in Sweden: Chalmers, KTH, Stockholms, Linköping and Lund universities. The goal of the project is to understand ion channel structure and function in order to better design molecules to modulate their activity, which may be beneficial in counteracting electrical disturbances in conditions such as epilepsy, cardiac arrhythmias and muscle paralysis. You will be the key person using electrophysiological techniques to functionally study ion channels and will interact closely with the other team members in your research group and with collaborators using cryo-EM and computational methods.

You will work on a project aimed to understand the role of nucleases in telomere homeostasis and cell survival in cancer. The research will be of experimental character, including cell culture, genetic manipulation, immunoblots, metaphase spread analysis, and immunofluorescence analysis. The activities include even literature review and lab working.

You will perform experimental studies of the effect of endogenous and exogenous compounds on cardiac voltage-gated potassium ion channels, with the aim of providing a deeper understanding of the anticipated effects on cardiac function. You will primarily work with molecular biology techniques and electrophysiological techniques in cell models. More specifically, you will express ion channel proteins in oocytes from Xenopus laevis, followed by the electrophysiological technique two-electrode voltage clamp to study how ion channels respond to endogenous and synthetic compounds. You will be studying human ion channels and ion channels from rabbit, guinea pig, and zebrafish, which are common species used in animal studies of cardiac electrophysiology. Your tasks will also include literature studies with focus on newly published research studies of relevance for the project and participation in research group activities such as project meetings and journal clubs.  

The study you will work in is about in vitro thrombosis models using flow chambers, fluorescence microscopy and image processing. It includes various experimental works in molecular biology and biochemistry. 

The main research focus of the Division of Cell Biology is to understand the construction and function of cells.
This includes genetic and molecular studies as well as studies of cell communication and how different cells form tissues and organisms. By gaining an understanding of cell biological processes the ultimate goal of the research is to find new ways to prevent, diagnose and cure disease. The division is involved in medical and biomedical education programs, both at undergraduate and Master’s level, as well as in education of PhD-students and post-doctoral fellows.

As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours. You will work in EU projects dealing with high-altitude airspace operations and electric aviation.

You will mainly work in a research project on the role of microglia in inflammatory symptoms, and how microglia are activated during inflammation. The project involves work with mice including chemogenetics, behavioral analysis, and expression analysis.  As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.

You will work in a research laboratory at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN) and will investigate physiology of the peripheral nervous system. The project will merge themes of transcriptomics with neurophysiology. Your work assignments will include the design and execution of molecular labelling experiments, molecular anatomy experiments as well as molecular physiology experiments. You will also use transcriptomics expression analysis and molecular genetics. Even communication with national and international partners as well as authoring of scientific articles will be part of your future duties. You will be a part of scientific results dissemination – including figure preparation and writing of journal and conference papers.
