Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Scholar
The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will join a multi-disciplinary team of three other post-doctoral students and investigators from four laboratories who are collectively contributing to a National Science Foundation Study, “AI-Supported Bionic Bivalves for Surface Water Monitoring based on Freshwater Mussel Response to Environmental Change” focused on the use of freshwater mussels as biosensors. The interdisciplinary study will assess the physiologic responses of freshwater bivalves instrumented for environmental sensing with electronic sensors.
The post-doctoral student will guide studies in the laboratory and the field focused on how freshwater mussels with attached electronic sensors respond to physical and physicochemical changes in their environment and contaminants. The post-doctoral student will be responsible for collecting freshwater mussels for study, establishing aquatic systems for their care and maintenance and guiding studies in those established systems.
The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will meet regularly to discuss research as well as other aspects of professional development, including but not limited to teaching, mentorship, outreach, service, and career plans.
Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Scholar
The EnBiSys Lab (https://research.ece.ncsu.edu/enbisys/) is looking for a postdoctoral research scholar to work at the intersection of data management, semantic technologies, and machine learning to design data workflows using knowledge graphs that will enable the collection, integration, and analysis of heterogeneous data across scales As part of the STEPS Science and Technology Center (https://steps-center.org/), this postdoctoral researcher will work with the Convergence Informatics team to explore and implement advanced techniques for knowledge graph construction, maintenance, and querying. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for adapting, enriching, and integrating new and existing ontologies as well as the development of a graphical user interface that will serve as a data-retrieval vehicle, connecting STEPS researchers to the developed knowledge graph and data hub to streamline collaboration and interteam data integration. These transferable data management tools will be used to better assist researchers in incorporating their analysis results into existing components and link researchers with other dataset through machine-learning assisted analyses.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Scholar
The Dunn Lab at North Carolina State University seeks a postdoctoral research associate to lead the development of a conservation risk-assessment tool for assisting U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service biologists in evaluating imperilment of southeastern crayfishes while providing analytical support for the Species Status Assessment of crayfishes petitioned for listing under the Endangered Species Act. The incumbent will work directly with Dr. Corey Dunn (U.S. Geological Survey, North Carolina State University) while learning in-demand skills transferable to broader applications in natural resources decision-making. This project is part of a broader portfolio of studies focused on developing analytical approaches for evaluating the imperilment of southeastern freshwater species. Accordingly, the hired candidate will help coordinate the co-development of research products among collaborating researchers and management biologists.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher
The position will be to conduct research on organic solar cell mechanical and operational stability. Research activities will include both experimental and computational activities. Research will include, but not limited to, processing organic solar cell devices, mechanical testing organic solar cells, and mechanical testing various layers that make up the solar cell. Analysis of the thermal transitions of organic semiconductor materials. Design and implementation of effective encapsulation of organic solar cell devices. Long-term stability tests of organic solar cells. The position will also include reporting research results in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and mentoring students.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Associate in Engineering Faculty Development & Success
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will serve as our resident expert on best practices in mentorship and faculty support in higher education and will lead the development of mentorship programming in the Office of Faculty Development and Success (OFDS) within the College of Engineering. The successful candidate, holding a Ph.D. in a STEM or Engineering Education-related field, will demonstrate an interest in faculty development, assessment/evaluation, and mentorship programs. This position provides a distinctive opportunity to contribute significantly to the advancement and success of faculty and students within our College of Engineering. These mentorship programs can be displayed in a variety of ways, such as traditional mentor-mentee relationships, faculty communities, developing workshops for mentoring, mentoring at the faculty and student levels, and fostering faculty growth in mentoring. The Belcher Lab is located in the Department of Biological Sciences that is part of the College of Sciences. Laboratory activities are part of the NC State Superfund Research Program and Center for Health and the Human Environment. Laboratory research aims to define new scientific understanding and transfer of that understanding to local, regional and global communities in the form of environmental education and community engaged research activities.
The selected candidate will focus primarily developing independent research under the guidance of the PI and the laboratories collaborators. As part of these activities, the candidate will interact with and work closely with the PI to further collaborations, interact with community partners, and train other laboratory personnel.
As part of this position the candidate will engage in continuous self-directed education and is expected (with the aid of the PI) to apply for additional intramural and extramural funding to support their research activities.
Conduct research and related-laboratory and field activities and assisting in research mentoring of trainees; as well as publication of research findings.
The selected candidate will also complete activities as needed for community engaged participatory research, research related travel, grant application preparation.
