We are seeking to recruit a full-time post-doctoral research associate to undertake research in coronary anatomical modelling and computational fluid dynamic analysis at Cardiovascular Device Hub Queen Mary University London and Department of Mechanical Engineering University College London. This post is based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and at the Department of Mechanical Engineering University College London and is available from the 1/10/2023 for 24 months. This research post will be for a duration of up to 5 years funded through a Medical Research Council (MRC) grant. The postholder will be leading or supporting projects involving: (i) deep phenotyping of multi-modal (MRI, CT or echocardiography) cardiovascular imaging and electrocardiogram (ECG) data in multi-centre, large-scale, diverse datasets using ML/artificial intelligence(AI) techniques and (ii) bioinformatics experiments to unravel the genetic basis of cardiovascular diseases and to discover novel therapeutic targets.

The research will involve using the cardiovascular digital twin concept to digitally model three disease states: acute coronary syndromes, valvular heart disease and hypertension. These models will be created by inputting data from available existing and novel wearables, sensing technologies, apps and large data registries. Using this data, digital models will be created to provide personalised patient treatment plans supporting their disease management, predicting disease states/trends and enabling device choice/design by predicting the patient’s response.

We seek an independent, motivated computational postdoctoral researcher to lead their own projects, contribute to collaborative efforts and guide PhD students.  We have access to cutting-edge HPC clusters within the BCI, the Francis Crick Institute and the CRUK City of London Centre. Our projects include identification of cancer drivers in individual patients (Mourikis Nature Comms 2019), validation of cancer dependencies (Benedetti Oncotarget 2017), immunogenomics screen to predict response to immunotherapy (Bortolomeazzi Gastroenterology 2021).

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join a team to study the role of centrosome amplification in cancer, with a focus on tumour microenvironment. Our laboratory uses various approaches, 2-/3-D cultures and mouse models, cutting-edge quantitative proteomics and imaging to understand how centrosome alterations impact cell physiology and cancer progression. The candidate will join a vibrant multidisciplinary environment and will be supported to develop their scientific career and have an impact in the centrosome/microtubule and cancer fields.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Research Fellow to join the Centre for Multi-omics, working with some of the world leaders in the genetic discovery of molecular traits, that underly disease mechanisms. Our group identifies genetic regulation of common, complex diseases to discover new drug targets and indications. We have unique multi-omic biosample repositories containing over 500,000 human tissue samples for research from consented patients, and available for longitudinal follow-up, from our culturally-diverse local East London population. The successful candidate will be able to use the repositories as well as our collaborations with Genes & Health and Genomics England.

Applications are invited for a role of Research Associate (Clinical Fellow) to work on the Precision Health, Cardiovascular Devices and Trials theme of the NIHR funded Barts Biomedical Research Centre. This post will predominantly be focusing on the hypertension aspect of the project, with an overall aim of finding novel ways of diagnosing, monitoring and treating patients with elevated blood pressure. The intention is to develop novel technologies informed by analysis of existing databases. The post holder would be involved in creating prediction models, and the models predicting the response to the treatment after taking into account individual characteristics of a patient. This project will hopefully lead to disruption in current thinking about monitoring of blood pressure and treatment of hypertension – away from healthcare facilities.

We are looking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to join our team at Queen Mary University of London. Applicants should have a relevant background in organisational or social psychology or human computer interaction with experience in quantitative and/or qualitative methods for data collection and analysis, including a PhD (or close to completion) in a related area. The post holder will contribute toward research into enhancing the cyber resilience of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the formation of cyber security communities of support. The work is contributing to a 30-month research project funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and conducted in collaboration between Queen Mary University of London, the University of Nottingham, and the University of Kent.

Applicants should have completed an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent). Applicants at a PDRA level must have a PhD in Electronic Engineering. Candidates must have expertise in one or more of the following areas: reconfigurable metamaterials, metasurfaces (specifically reflecting intelligent surfaces) or phased array design. It would be desirable for applicants to have publications in leading journals within their respective fields.

The post requires a dedicated, motivated and passionate postdoctoral research assistant who will lead this study. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant subject and provide three good references. The study requires substantial skills in cell and molecular biology and will require in vivo testing of newly created cell-models. First author publications will provide evidence that you have experience in completing studies through to the final manuscript.

You will work with the team of partners from QMUL, Sheffield and Manchester to undertake molecular dynamics simulations of molten salts used in nuclear industry and to gain understanding of transport and thermophysical properties of molten salts. Your role will also include liaising with team members, disseminating results and writing papers. This project is done in collaboration with the US partnres including the Penn State University and Washington State University/

A postdoctoral research position is available to investigate the epigenetic mechanisms operating at the boundary between normal and cancer in an in vivo mouse model. This is a collaborative project between cancer epigenetics experts and computational biologists, with the aim to understand natural emergence of cancer.
