Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate/ Fellow in Computational Materials Discovery for Lasers (fixed term)
This is a theoretical/computational postdoctoral position for the prediction and development of novel optoelectronic materials, in particular new perovskite phases for super-radiant solid state lasers.
Project activities include the development of hierarchical computational materials discovery schemes combining machine learning, atomistic, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations to accurately and rapidly screen new perovskite phases, based on their stability and desired optoelectronic properties.
The candidate will develop and apply machine learning tools and algorithms to create a map of stable perovskite compounds with properties relevant to strong optical coherence and super-radiant emission. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate/Fellow (Fixed term)
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow to work with our lithium-sulfur battery team as part of the Faraday Institution LiStar project. Candidates must have (or almost completed) a PhD in physical chemistry, synthetic chemistry, electrochemistry, materials chemistry, or a related discipline. The candidate will work within the Nottingham Applied Materials and Interfaces Group at the University of Nottingham, reporting to Dr Lee Johnson, Dr Graham Newton, and Dr Darren Walsh. The lithium-sulfur battery is very promising for our future energy-storage requirements, as it has the potential to exceed the specific energy of the lithium-ion battery. However, the performance of the battery is limited due to incomplete conversion of sulfur and low-rate capability. The project will focus on the development of electrolytes and additives that enable high performance. We encourage applicants with a range of skill sets to apply.
