(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral researcher position in developing computational tools for DNA microscopy.

You will join our team, a leading group in the field of DNA nanotechnology specialized in creating molecular tools for life-science research (http://www.hogberglab.net/). You will contribute to the ERC Advanced Grant project qScope, where you will create and improve existing bioinformatic tools and network algorithms to help us to map RNA or protein molecules in tissue samples using a method called DNA-microscopy. This technique aims to allow the reconstruction of the relative spatial positions of biomolecules using exclusively DNA-sequencing information based on artificial molecular networks (neighbour-neighbour interaction matrices) created experimentally in the sample. This is essentially about turning the sequencer into a microscope that uses DNA sequence, not light, as a carrier of spatial information.

(08) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc position in machine learning for cardiovascular imaging

Four-dimensional flow magnetic resonance imaging (4D Flow MRI) has emerged as a powerful imaging technique, providing unique full-field mapping of blood flow across various cardiovascular compartments. However, acquisition, reconstruction and analysis still require complex analysis and clinical limitation in terms of manual data handling, spatiotemporal resolution limits, and so on still limit effective modality usage. The incorporation of machine learning and advanced MR-physics implementations is, however, starting to fundamentally change what can be analysed and resolved. Specifically, our group has shown how the use of super-resolution networks and physics-informed image processing now allow for usage of 4D Flow MRI through previously inaccessible domains, opening for novel diagnostic paradigms.

The postdoctoral researcher will continue these efforts on quantitative imaging, targeting data-driven data enhancements using dedicated neural networks and mathematical algorithms to streamline analysis and improve physiological insight. Work may include further enhancement of existing data-driven approaches into more advanced purpose-built setups (expanding into Diffusion, Transformer, or Foundation Model networks) as well as proposing novel utilities for higher-dimensional data analysis.

Making use of our translational team, work is expected to include evaluation in existing patient-specific models, benchtop validation setups, on dedicated and available MR-systems, as well as clinical patient cohorts, serving our overall goal of improving our understanding of hemodynamic risk through various cardiovascular compartments.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) physics

Phase-contrast MRI plays a crucial role in cardiovascular flow quantification, with three-dimensional measurements of time-resolved flow (4D Flow) presenting a unique opportunity to deepen our understanding of cardiovascular hemodynamics. However, challenges like long scan times, motion artifacts, and the trade-off between spatial and temporal resolution remain significant barriers for widespread adoption. The incorporation of advanced image acquisition techniques is starting to fundamentally change what can be analyzed and resolved. Specifically, our larger group has shown that innovations in sequence development to enable high-quality image recovery at higher acceleration factors and at unprecedented spatiotemporal resolutions, opening for new diagnostic paradigms.

Your focus will be on developing novel pulse sequences and accompanying image reconstructions for 4D flow imaging, seeking ways to efficiently image volumetric flow in the heart and large vessels. Making use of our translational team, the methods developed will be evaluated using dedicated on-site MRI scanners and in clinical patient cohorts, serving our overall goal of improving our understanding and use of MRI for next-generation cardiovascular care and to translate novel imaging innovations directly into clinical practice.
