Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Eelgrass Population Genomics
This project is co‑led by Drs. Marco Todesco, Mary O’Connor (Department of Zoology), and Loren Rieseberg (Department of Botany), and is embedded within a long‑standing network of eelgrass researchers, restoration practitioners, and coastal Eeyou communities in Eeyou Istchee. Eelgrass meadows occur along much of the North American coastline and are essential components of coastal ecosystems. They support biodiversity, improve water quality, contribute to fisheries productivity, and play a major role in carbon sequestration. Despite their importance, eelgrass habitats are increasingly threatened by climate change, pollution, and coastal development. Restoration efforts are urgently needed but often fail, partly because transplanted plants may not be genetically suited to their new environments.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral fellowships in biomedical ultrasound imaging and monitoring
Sonus Microsystems and UBC work towards the development of innovative biomedical imaging systems using polymer based ultrasonic transducer arrays. polyCMUT (Polymer Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer) arrays. The specific features of such transducers enable conformal ultrasound imaging using flexible array patches. We target the development of ultrasound systems for imaging and healthcare monitoring, building on the accumulated expertise in both the research team at UBC (AdaMist group) and in Sonus Microsystems, proven by existing past publications. The main target is to develop novel wearable ultrasonic arrays for non-invasive health monitoring. The main envisaged advantages are surface conformability, low fabrication cost and rapid customization, in a good balance with the transducer array performance. The approach will allow the continuous, prolonged time monitoring of the health status of patients using non-invasive ultrasound measurements/imaging techniques, for both early warning and accurate diagnostic.
