We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a background in neuroscience to join our team. The primary objective of our research is to characterize circadian processes involved in both metabolic and mental disorders. As a successful candidate, you will lead a neuroscientific branch in our lab and collaborate closely with researchers specializing in metabolism.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow who can work independently and develop their own ideas and visions and with a strong drive for a future career in research. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. from an appropriate discipline such as toxicology, cell- or molecular biology with an in-depth understanding of cellular signaling, mutagenesis and carcinogenesis. Documented experience of working with cell culture and molecular biology techniques is required. Documented experience of performing and analyzing in vitro toxicology experiments is highly meriting. Documented experience of data analysis of next-generation sequencing data is meritorious. The candidate must be able to work well in a team with researchers from different disciplines, have good collaboration and communication skills and must be able to communicate well in English, both orally and in writing. In addition, personal suitability will be a factor in the selection process.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. The candidate should have a high degree of independence but with collaborative mindset, work productively in a team, and contribute to a good social and work environment in the laboratory. The applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Science and have a solid background in cancer biology. Previous experience in research on tumor metabolism, differentiation, and/or target identification is a prerequisite. Knowledge and experience in the biology of MYC, neuroblastoma, and Bioinformatics is an advantage.

The applicant shall hold a PhD degree in one of the biological science or engineering fields, preferentially awarded in the 2-3 years. The candidates with previous systems neuroscience or mouse behavior or electrophysiology or multi-photon imaging or computational biology with extensive coding experience will be prioritized. The applicant needs to have a high degree of independence and motivation but should have no problems to work in a team given the collaborative nature of the project. Fluency in English is a requirement.

This postdoctoral scholarship is focused on skeletal growth and the mechanisms of its maintenance. The successful candidate will be expected to plan and conduct experimental research to reveal basic mechanisms relating to skeletal disorders arising from childhood cancer treatments. More specifically, duties will include collecting and analysing human tissues, maintaining a colony of mice, processing and analysing murine samples. Methodologies include confocal microscopy, histological and histochemical staining, immunofluoresence, multi-target in situ hybridisation and spatial transcriptomics.

Dietary fatty acids are metabolized by the gut microbiota into downstream lipid mediators that can exert potent biological functions in pro- and anti-inflammatory processes. Recent studies have demonstrated a role of these gut microbial-derived products in several pathologies. However, little is known about the effects of these novel mediators upon their local environment in the gut. Studies will focus on the role of these metabolites in intestinal development and barrier function in vivo. The project will employ a combination of in vivo zebrafish-based models, small intestine organoids from mouse isolates and high-throughput platforms to interrogate the function of microbiota-derived lipid metabolites in the modulation of intestinal development. Additional studies may explore the production of lipid mediators by specific microbial strains using mass spectrometry. This project will apply cutting-edge in vivo tools to investigate how microbial-derived lipid mediators modulate intestinal homeostasis and physiology.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with a passion for developing experimental methods to join our team. In this role, you will be involved in a groundbreaking project aimed at advancing the study of protein-RNA interactions through the integration of proteomics and genomics, making use of the expertise of the Piazza and Pelechano laboratories. With proof-of-concept already established, you will work to refine and optimize the method to achieve broad applicability and high reproducibility. You will have the opportunity to apply this novel approach to explore pressing biomedical questions, such as elucidating the key features of proteins that govern RNA binding specificity and leveraging this knowledge to advance treatments for human tumors and immunotherapies. You will work on an exciting multidisciplinary project integrating multiomics approaches that aims to understand the crosstalk between RNA and in bulk and at single cell level.  You will have access to state-of-the-art instrumentation including mass spectrometers for single cell proteomics analysis and be involved in international cross-disciplinary collaborations. 

The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in a project aiming to investigate how air pollution, transportation noise and neighborhood greenness contribute to the development of a wide range of early markers of cardiometabolic health (e.g. blood pressure, saliva cortisol, markers of systemic inflammation, blood lipids, overweight, etc), applying advanced quantitative epidemiological methods. The project is based on an ongoing birth cohort (BAMSE) where 4089 participants have been followed from birth up to age 24 years (https://ki.se/en/imm/bamse-project). We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the research group of Federico Pietrocola. The focus of this position is to investigate the connection between aging and cancer, with a specific emphasis on understanding the impact of cellular senescence on the biology of lung cancer. The primary objective of the project is to explore how senescent cells in the microenvironment influence the host immune response, tumor progression, and the response to anti-cancer immunotherapy. To successfully accomplish these goals, the candidate will have access to cutting-edge murine models of disease and local facilities equipped for high-throughput genomics, flow cytometry, and imaging analysis. Furthermore, the candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with internationally renowned scientists specializing in the fields of cellular senescence and tumor immunology. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated scientist who possesses a doctoral degree and a strong background in Cancer Biology. Previous experience working with animal models, particularly mouse models, and murine tumor models is a mandatory requirement. Prior knowledge in immunology and tumor immunology will be highly regarded during the selection process. The postdoctoral researcher will work on a multi-scale drug delivery platform for biologics and other drugs using nanocarriers and microneedles and other medical devices against skin conditions/diseases and/or wound healing. The postdoctoral researcher will work in a team and carry out experimental work, as well as participate in the lab research environment including courses, seminars, and scientific presentations at meetings. Other responsibilities include development of methodology and work routines, literature review, statistical analysis, adhering to the lab manual policies and drafting scientific reports and manuscripts. On this specific project, the postdoctoral researcher may also be involved in translational activities for market research and validation of the proposed approach.

The project is focused on increased understanding of our working memory, an integral part of flexible cognition. You will plan and implement human cognitive and neuroimaging studies. In particular, the project focuses on understanding working memory in different modalities (smell, vision). The postdoc will conduct multiple studies, using EEG, fMRI and MEG in human subjects, and analyse data.

Mutations of mtDNA cause mitochondrial diseases and are heavily implicated in age-associated disease and the normal ageing process. The postdoc positions will be focused on studies of how inherited and somatic mtDNA mutations in mammals impair oxidative phosphorylation to cause organ dysfunction. Mechanisms for purifying selection of mutated mtDNA in the maternal germline will also be studied. The group of Nils-Göran Larsson focuses on understanding molecular processes determining how mitochondrial dysfunction causes disease and ageing by using biochemistry, molecular biology and modern -omics approaches. In addition, advanced mouse models, including conditional knockout strains and strains with mtDNA mutations generated by gene editing, will be an important component of the project.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you are offered work and career development within three highly relevant research projects, several experienced supervisors, and the opportunity to work on world-leading registry- and genetic research answering clinically relevant research questions. The postdoctoral researcher in our group will study the formation and retrieval of food flavor preferences, and how they are supported by the coding mechanisms and connectivity structure of the human brain. This position is part of an ERC funded project which builds on previous work from our group (see eg. 1 and 2). Specifically, the sucessfull candidate will develop experimental designs that manipulate the metabolic impact of food stimuli and measure and compare metabolic markers associated with these manipulations. The candidate will learn to relate the results to behavioral and functional anatomical outcomes, and prepare the results for publication. The postdoctoral researcher will act as a liaison between collaborators in cognitive neuroscience and nutrition, and will be encouraged to develop new projects at the intersection of nutrition and cognitive neuroscience according to their own interests.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated scientist who is interested in working in a multi-disciplinary team at the forefront of translational AD research. Our group has a lot of experience with therapeutic application in AD targeting the cholinergic pathways, primarily by targeting the neurotrophin – Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) using encapsulated cell (EC Biodelivery) mediated drug delivery or by using cholinesterase inhibitor (ChEI’s) treatment. We want to further our work by performing in-depth gene expression analysis from high-throughput sequencing projects. We will employ studies involving in-vitro experimentation, preclinical in-vivo set-up, and clinical studies, using various physiological and pathological conditions and study the underlying changes in signaling pathways and cellular behavior through gene expression analysis, in combination with other techniques available in our lab. This postdoctoral scholarship will involve designing experiment layouts, data management, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript preparation, presenting research, contributing to grant proposals, and mentoring students. The candidate will perform integrated computational analysis of different types of next-generation sequencing data and interpret the results as a member of a team of researchers. You will have the opportunity to publish high-profile papers with a prominent authorship position depending on the intellectual contribution. The primary purpose of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening is to reduce death from the disease by finding the cancer at an early curable stage, but also to reduce the incidence of the disease by removing potential precursors (adenomas). In Sweden, until recently, there has been only one regional program for organized population-based CRC screening covering approximately 25% of the Swedish population. Starting in 2008, the screening program of Stockholm-Gotland invites men and women ages 60-70 (no exclusions) to submit stool samples every two years for detection of occult blood and individuals with a positive test are referred to a diagnostic follow-up colonoscopy. There is a lack of colonoscopy resources, and our hypothesis is that with an individual risk prediction model for CRC, the re-invitations to screening after a negative test or surveillance after screening colonoscopy could be tailored and, hence, generate a more cost-effective program with limited side-effects for the screening participants. As a first step we are currently evaluating the effectiveness of the ongoing program on mortality and incidence and the overall objective of this postdoctoral project is to evaluate different health economic aspects of the program, e.g., its cost-effectiveness and cost of illness. Other health economic aspects are being discussed.

You will have the ability to work with advanced analysis of large databases of already acquired data, using using advanced statistical methods, including machine learning. The position is also very flexible, with an opportunity to initiate and start new studies, collecting behavioral data or with neuroimaging using MEG, fMRI, TDCS or EEG.

A post-doctoral research fellow in electrochemical sensors and microbiology is needed to work in Parlak Lab in recently funded project. You will be part of a research team in Parlak Lab developing high-quality biosensors and study bacterial skin infection, respectively. Specifically, you will work on the fabrication of electrochemical device, synthetic and semi-synthetic biorecognition design for bacterial sensing. You will be integral members of the research team that works to generate high-quality biomedical devices in a high throughput format. The work includes biosensor device, biorecognition design, and electrochemical analysis. The duties of the position also include reporting and data dissemination. Thus, your work will contribute to the broader goal of the project; to enable rapid, accurate, and safe biosensing, allowing clinicians to improve treatment decisions for the benefit of patients.

The project’s main aim is to characterize the mitoribosomal maturation process especially the very earliest mito-rRNA maturation steps that occur co-transcriptionally and involves the early processing steps and their coordination with binding of ribosomal proteins and maturation factors. Main techniques involved are electron microscopy (cryo-EM), cell biology and biochemistry. We have ample access to Karolinska Institutet’s 3D-EM facility that currently features a Krios G3i with a Bioquantum K3, an Aquilos2 cryo-FIB-SEM, a Leica SP8 cryo-confocal, a Talos 120C G2 and a range of sample preparation equipment.

You will be involved in all aspects of research conducted in the HERG including modelling studies, retrospective database analyses and prospective observational studies. This includes formulating hypotheses and research questions, writing grant proposals, study protocols, and analysis plans, conducting data analyses, writing reports and manuscripts, participating in publication processes and communicating results at scientific conferences. You will participate in national and international research consortia collaborating with leading research groups and innovative companies. Our group is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow who would like to identify and characterize key protein-protein interactions mediating gamete recognition and fusion across the evolutionary tree. Candidates should have significant hands-on experience in mammalian and/or insect cell expression, purification and biochemical characterization of proteins. Experience in analyzing protein-protein interactions using different techniques and approaches is also required, while practical knowledge in developing and expressing monoclonal antibodies will be considered an advantage.
