The postdoctoral fellow will perform studies on the connection between chromosome organization and function, focusing on SMC complexes and their connection to DNA supercoiling. Depending on competence and preference, the fellow will perform in vivo investigations using a budding yeast model system and/or biochemical studies of various variants of purified SMC complexes and supercoiling-controlling enzymes. The successful candidate will be part of a highly interactive and multidisciplinary team covering expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and bioinformatics.

We are seeking a motivated, creative post-doctoral candidate interested in exploring drivers of intratumor heterogeneity and phenotypic plasticity in childhood neuroblastoma and paraganglioma. Intratumor heterogeneity and high plasticity account for therapy resistance. Causes of plasticity cell state transitions during tumor progression remain poorly understood. Currently, there is no effective treatment that addresses cancer heterogeneity. Systematic characterization of dynamic properties of intratumor heterogeneity and phenotypic plasticity can guide treatment strategies and improve clinical outcome for cancer patients. We aim at elucidating the origin and heterogeneity of paraganglioma and childhood neuroblastoma by developing a new analytic and experimental approach based on spatial transcriptomics and single-cell transcriptomics with integrated mass spectrometry. We use organoids, cell lines and generate novel tumor mouse model systems and include human tumors to perform comparative differentiation trajectory analysis, to make predictions and, finally, to perform preliminary validations of envisioned tumor differentiation strategies.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to utilize various types of cutting-edge single-cell genomics data in order to identify disease-associated patterns of alternative splicing. Within your project, you will focus on identifying cell type-specific changes in mRNA splicing in schizophrenia cases. For this, RNA-binding proteins may be a particular driving factor, which we aim to investigate in more functional detail using a CRISPRi screen. Further projects to elucidate disease-relevant splicing events are of interest to the lab, in particular with regards to cancers such as glioblastoma or cancers of the hematopoietic system.

The available postdoctoral position concerns developing and applying novel diagnostic tools for cancer patient and/or infectious diseases. Depending on the applicant’s background, the succesful candidate will focus on the development of improved clinical genomics methods to improve cancer patient stratification or on the development of novel point of care diagnostic devices for the detection of infectious diseases. In the case of infectious diseases, the postdoc candidate will work on the area of electric detection of DNA nanoballs (Tayyab, Barrett et al. Sci Adv 2023). The candidate will perform original research in genomics, molecular biology and/or microfluidics. The candidate will acquire the required experimental and computational skills necessary for the completion of the project. The successful candidate will take a strong lead in the experimental design and collaborate with other team members. The candidate is expected to communicate the scientific results by writing up scientific papers and attending scientific meetings. The ideal candidate is also expected to participate in the general duties of the team and to effectively communicate with scientists of very diverse backgrounds in a highly interdisciplinary and international environment. We are seeking a creative and goal-oriented candidate to conduct research within a large EU project called Re-MEND that focuses on four critical life stages in which changes in endocrine signaling, including sex hormones, influence an individual’s susceptibility to mental illness: early life, the peripartum period, puberty, and transition into old age. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with several other universities in Sweden and throughout Europe. This part of the project will be carried out in a longitudinal cohort in Bangladesh. We will examine the impact of environmental factors (i.e., environmental pollutants, nutrition and diet, physical activity, cardiometabolic risk indicators, social and economic factors, and behavioral patterns) before and around puberty on mental health in early adulthood. Relationships between different environmental pollutants and mental health outcomes will be evaluated using advanced statistical methods, specifically for evaluations of mixtures of environmental pollutants. The position will also include participation in teaching and supervision of bachelor’s and master’s students.

We are looking for a creative and goal-oriented candidate to conduct research focusing on exposure to mixtures of toxic and essential dietary trace elements early in life and child development, particularly child growth. The research will be carried out by combining data from two different studies concerning young children’s exposure to various trace elements via diet. The exposure to various trace elements has been determined through measurements in biological samples, primarily using ICPMS. We will examine the relationship between the levels of various trace elements and the children’s diet to identify the main dietary sources. Relationships between different trace elements and children’s growth will be evaluated using advanced statistical methods, specific for evaluations of mixtures of chemicals. The research is conducted in collaboration with several other Swedish universities and authorities. The position will also include participation in teaching and supervision of bachelor’s and master’s students.

We seek a curious, highly motivated, and creative postdoc with a strong background in stem cell biology. The ideal candidate should have experience working with mouse models and programming languages to analyze sequencing data. We aim to recruit a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong research background in molecular genetics and rare diseases, preferably affecting the skeleton. The aim of the project is to identify new genetic causes for skeletal disorders with osteoporosis, abnormal mineral homeostasis, short stature, or deformities, and to characterize the molecular mechanisms through which the genetic defects lead to the phenotype. The study includes patients and families who suffer from these rare diseases. We use mainly whole-genome sequencing and RNA-sequencing to identify the disease-causing gene defects.

We search for a postdoctoral scholar to work in the area of phage biology and bacterial defense systems with a focus on functional characterization of Mycobacterium tuberculosis/Mycobacterium abscessus systems to restrict phage replication. As a member of the Fossati lab, you will apply and develop novel genetic screenings (based on CRISPRi) to identify bacterial genes influencing phage replication and characterize them in their molecular context using interaction proteomics (affinity purification, proximity labelling, co-fractionation mass spectrometry).   As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will assume a prominent role in project design and management, oversee data generation, conduct analyses, and provide insightful interpretations. As a postdoc in our group, you will study the formation and retrieval of food flavor preferences, and how they are supported by the coding mechanisms and connectivity structure of the human brain. This position is part of an ERC funded project which builds on previous work from our group (see eg. 1 and 2). Specifically, you will develop experimental designs that manipulate the metabolic impact of food stimuli and measure and compare metabolic markers associated with these manipulations. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will act as project manager and be responsible for driving the project forward from start to finish, in collaboration with the research group leader and other involved researchers. This includes securing necessary permits and agreements, designing studies, collecting and analyzing data, writing manuscripts, and more. As a postdoctoral fellow, you will carry out projects to evaluate gait and functional movement, as well as patient-reported outcome (PROM) in both children and adults with musculoskeletal problems. We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in Erik Benson new research group based at Scilifelab campus Solna, as a part of the larger group of prof Birgitta Henriques Normark. The group focuses on using DNA nanotechnology to develop libraries of DNA structures with large shape diversity. We use these structures to perform selection experiments combined with sequencing to find the structures with the best properties. The goal is to develop alternatives to antibodies that are fast to develop and produce, and are readable by sequencing. Mutations of mtDNA cause mitochondrial diseases and are heavily implicated in age-associated disease and the normal ageing process. The postdoc positions will be focused on studies of how inherited and somatic mtDNA mutations in mammals impair oxidative phosphorylation to cause organ dysfunction. Mechanisms for purifying selection of mutated mtDNA in the maternal germline will also be studied. The group of Nils-Göran Larsson focuses on understanding molecular processes determining how mitochondrial dysfunction causes disease and ageing by using biochemistry, molecular biology and modern -omics approaches. In addition, advanced mouse models, including conditional knockout strains and strains with mtDNA mutations generated by gene editing, will be an important component of the project.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the fields of cell biology, molecular neuroscience, neuropharmacology or neuroendocrinology. Documented experience in working with cell cultures (primary cells, cell lines, iPS models), including their genetic manipulation will be minimally required. Experience with the genetic analysis of protein function in mouse models will be seen as a plus. Experimental knowledge in measuring vesicle neuropeptide/hormone transport and release will be seen as critical knowledge.
